Features still needed AFTER 1.10 update

Also I want to be able to disable voice usage for parts that I use to sequence external gear. Currently parts used to sequence external gear are still needlessly using oscillators / voices taking away voices from the polyphony (voice stealing).
If I'm just outputting midi, there's no reason a part should use up voices.

I've written a simple post on Korg's Facebook page, maybe if people "like" it Korg will actually notice.. (But I'm not holding my breath

I don't know. If it doesn't it would be good to use for parts used to sequence external gear. A simple "Off" oscillator option for a part would have prevented this confusion :-/Chapterhaus wrote:Pygmy, does Audio In steal voices?
Right now, for external parts I'm using the AudioIn as osc and priority to Normal, and for all non-external parts I set the priority to High.
I also use the "audio in thru" for external devices
I don't experienced voice stealing yet (I thought it was freeing the polyphony in "audio in" mode.....are you sure of that??)but if I want to export the audio it seems the sound of my external synth is altered
if my synth sound have long tails (reverb,delay..) the audio export on the electribe cuts the notes on this part
any idea?
(no problem in "playback mode", the sound is good, it happens just when I want to export)

The biggest things I'd like to see added to the E2
• Recording/Outputing MIDI CC data. Right now it only records and affects the internal sound engine. This alone would solve a ton of problems using it with an external synth like my Blofeld or an iPad.
• 8 bar or Alternate pattern speed playback for each individual part
• Edit functions: copy/paste/move/shift/transpose/etc...
With those things alone I feel like this machine could be a life long instrument/tool.

The one thing putting me off buying one of the new Electribes - and I was seriously considering buying one before I found this out - is the pattern length being too short. I need at least 128 steps.
If it's possible to accomplish that with a firmware upgrade, I don't care what has to be sacrificed to to so. If I see that upgrade, I'm buying an Electribe the next day. Probably the sampler. I'm being completely serious. I'm not an engineer, but it's baffling to me that anyone would put out a groovebox with only 64 steps in 2015. I get that repetitive music is really popular right now, but even if we're looking at it from a trend standpoint just for the sake of argument, 32nd notes are also very popular right now, in things like dubstep and trap, so whether you look at it in terms of trends or musical innovation, a 64-step sequencer is not much to work with.
If it's impossible to double the pattern length (not that I have any clue why it would be), I'll just wait and see if the next generation of Korg grooveboxes has learned the lesson. You'd think they would have already learned it years ago from all the KP3/Kaossilator Pro feedback that said exactly what I'm saying right now: The four bar limit is a joke. That's literally my one gripe with Korg. I love what Korg products are capable of, but I'm also a musician. Hooking up a groovebox to an external sequencer just to get patterns long enough to make music with kind of defeats the purpose of a groovebox.

Korg ... look at the Novation Circuit... there is a lot to learn for better UI/UX
and I don’t mean the missing display on Novation... but the gate/velocity editing transpose editing etc... I know there is no "RGB back lit” pads in the E2(S) but you could use full/half lit pads to indicate things . With today’s groove boxes is all about workflow and that is far from ideal on E2/E2S...
I’m sick and tired to keep adding features to these hopeless lists... sick of sending endless emails to “non existing” korg support soon there will be more “Circuit” like devices there is demand for it... the JD-XI is pretty popular, the novation Circuit will be too... so who is going to come up with the “Pro” version groove-color-shinny-pad-thingy first ? with more effects, polyphony, 128 steps and chained patterns etc. ... and have I mentioned at least 3 XY/MOD built-in controllers
....just keep dreaming ....

I wouldn't mind that, so tell me please: can this be done with any sequencer or does one need to learn ableton in order to accomplish this?MozartVonRobot wrote:Hooking up a groovebox to an external sequencer just to get patterns long enough to make music with kind of defeats the purpose of a groovebox.

I use my iPad and the Cubasis app if I need song mode, which by the way sucks that I need to do that!!! There are a few sequencers that you can use on iOS devices to do the job, depending on your needs.Daionsavage wrote: I wouldn't mind that, so tell me please: can this be done with any sequencer or does one need to learn ableton in order to accomplish this?

Twice as much pattern changing is a problem for those who need to do other things with their hands, like play some other keyboard, especially if you make music at higher BPM's, 180 BPM D'n'B is already twice as fast as 90 BPM hip hop....Also since notes don't carry over smoothly could be an issue with sustaining parts. Also devices from the 90's such as emu command station and yamaha RS7000/RM1X let you have really long patterns, emu up to 32 BARS, don't remember for the yamahas.....just can't fathom 4 bars in 2015....jpeg wrote:I dont see why the four bar limit is such an issue all u do is spread ur idea over two patterns so the workaround is so obvious it should not deter one from buying.
I keep seeing people say this.. I can't help but wonder if these people have ever played a live show. In reality, even 8 bars is a striking limitation.jpeg wrote:I dont see why the four bar limit is such an issue all u do is spread ur idea over two patterns so the workaround is so obvious it should not deter one from buying.
