How to Set Var1 for all styles to start with

Post by jijopj »

In style play mode, is it possible to set Variation 1 (or any other variation)as default for styles.

Thanks in advance

No, each style have to be set individually which element is load first.
BTW, this is what is cool about.

That means it is possible to set for individual styles which variation to play first.

I use style play mode a lot for church choir, some times I forget to change to Var1 when starting with another style, the current style variation may be 3rd or 4th one. If the newly loaded style start on Var3 or 4 then the song sounds very troublesome.
If I can save which variation to play first along with the style, how can it be done.

Its very easy. Prepare your style how u want it to start (like press Var1 and then press intro 1) then topper right corner pick "write style" and save it on same location like the old one. Thats it. From now on every time you start that style will start with intro1 and then Var1 will play.

Exactly is Write Current Style Settings, Style is going to remember.
Very cool feature if you performance set live.

I think it is not working for me.(running PA600 v1.2 OS)
I saved the styles with Var1 (menu>write current style setting). While playing a style in Var3 I selected another style (saved with Var1), but the newly selected style continues to play Var3, didn't played the Var1. (I also tested with stopping the 1st style and selected next and start playing, that too didn't worked). I tried several ways, but it keeps playing the same variation which is currently playing.

Is there any global set up to do or any STS mode selection to do to get it in the desired way.

If this is Factory Style, you must unlock protection in Global first.
In Global/Mode Preferences: Media uncheck Factory Style and Pad Protect

try work with one of style and do this:
load it, set variation you want first and then write style setting.
then change style for any and load again and look if remember your 1-st element (var).
if not, try to do and one of factory (copy style to user location), if not working must be something wrong.

I now did a factory reset and loaded the OS.1.2 again and checked whether the style play is OK. But it plays the same way. It continue to play the variation selected no matter any other style selected.

I just did what Nemik explained to you and it works flawlessly.
All I did, made sure in Global style protection and pad protection is unchecked. Selected a style, which started in Var3. Selected Var2. Selected "write current style settings" and bingo. Now, every time I select this style, it starts with Var 2.
The same can be done if you use songbook. You select the style starting setup, write in songbook and it will remember every time you select this song.
Hope this helps.
The only stupid questions are the questions that have not been asked.

I am not getting it right. I tried all as above recommended. But it is the same as earlier.
The left hand chord recognition also behave strange some times(from the beginning). If I changed to style play from song play mode, the left hand portion some times play normal and some other time not normal. Is it related to var changing problem.

I would say that you need to save your fingering mode in 'My Setting' Button...

Press Global -> Mode Preferences -> Style Tab -> Chord Recognition -> Select fingering mode -> Press the 'My Setting' Button on the keyboard and Save. The chord Recognition mode should now remain in memory each time you switch on...

It should work. Try one more thing. "STS Mode" put it to OFF (no red light) and try again. U can find this "STS MODE" near "Style" button(left). For me it work every time and i have OS version 1.10. I was lazy to uptade to 1.20.

Did you try to unlock style element, in Global, General Controls, Lock, Style?

Pa600 Reference Guide, page 146:
Style Element When this lock is closed, the selected Style Element (Variation, Intro…) will not change when choosing a different Style.
This lock has no effect on the Styles automatically selected when choosing a SongBook entry. The Style Element memorized in the SongBook entry is always selected.

Hope this Helps.
