Well, looks like my suspicians are confirmed.

We no longer have the realtime ability to increace/decreace the Acc 1 - 5 total volume by slider 2 or any other it would seem.

You will like this one folks!!. As my dealer was offering such a good P/X I pre orderd a Pa 4x thinking that Korg would never drop this on the fly great feature.

What a Wally Eh   Might have to rethink that decision

Oh!! before someone says it, I am aware you can mute ACC 1 - 5 totally, but that is not the same.

I installed a backup from Korg Pa3X to Korg Pa4X compressed wav sounds and Pa4X them, working properly and play OK.
Yes, you are right, there is a mistake in the early documentation. The updated line should read as follows:

• Compressed User Samples exceeding about 200 MB (400 MB uncompressed or ‘linear’) are not loaded.

Paolo

OK I understand, that's enough to start.
Pa3X standard - only 128 megabytes uncompressed - Pa4X super 400 megabytes!

The Acc 1-5 volume is now a global offset. You can still adjust it in realtime by going in the Global > Mode Preference > Style page. However, please be aware that this adjustement is automatically saved in memory. It is not reset when choosing a different Style.

You can still control these tracks from the main page, by switching to the Style tracks view (press the TRACK SELECT button), and using the latest five sliders.

The grouped Style tracks are now a global offset (Global > Mode Preferences > Style page). You now adjust this group as in a stage submixer; the group level is maintained for each Style.

The Auto Sound Select function no longer exists, since there are no SOUND buttons.

The Fill Mode is now replaced by the smarter Auto Fill Mode.

Unless I missed it in the manual, there's still no Range-set playback in Style record mode! Every time you want to audition something you'd have to keep playing the whole thing from bar 1 just like old tape machines. :(

Many thanks for your input and time regarding this. However, I am aware of all the points you suggest including the Global offset as I also have a Pa9oo of which the 4x seems to have followed in this respect. Yes, you can use the fiddly virtual sliders to achieve this but it means staying in the global pref. page.

Very dissapointed they have decided to change this realtime slider feature that has been with us since the Pa!x. But there we go, thats progress for you.

I agree, Ken. I don't have a Pa4x or a 900 (still have my Pa1xPro), but I'd prefer the hands-on working of the sliders.

Read on other threads, you will find as much criticism of Korg's fractured rollout from PLENTY of other members. You didn't criticize THOSE members for being less than impressed (and vocal about it!) with Korg's lack of community involvement. So why me? Let me guess...

BTW, note Paolo's apology further down from my post about the information they DID get wrong. This could have been dispelled a month ago (when first noted).

That here IS the largest Korg arranger community, and not their own site should be acknowledged by Korg. If they are willing to come here at all, they should be willing to come here when they are needed the MOST.

Could that function be assigned to a programmable button, or footswitch?

I apologize, but it was a mistake in the older manual. Pa4X can read compressed samples from Pa3X, but only if they can fit into the new memory size.

Paolo
May i ask to the reasoning beyound the redusced user memmory? In gerenal this will feel to people as a setback..

Or are there any future planned upgrades to enlarge the user sample memmory, either trough diskstreaming or by adding more user memmory?
