Is the audio way out of sync with the video? Cuz I'm not seeing much correllation between what he does on the EMX and what is happening in the audio? And it looks like there are times where he whacks a drum part key which would normally trigger the assigned drum sound but you don't hear a sound? And I know some of those tracks were done in ableton, fact did a video on one of the first ones. Not saying he's faking the funk, but it's not real clear just what the EMX is doing.....just midi control? Maybe some drums? Using it as an effect box?

I havent seen it yet, but some people on Reddit were saying it looked like he was only using it as a midi sequencer.

Based on what I saw that seems the most probable....

yeah, probably using as a drum sequencer. None of the sounds sounded very EMXish. And he does love random hardware sequencing.

Legowelt often use an Electribe as a live MIDI sequencer. Here's a video from 2008 where he uses the ESX1 instead: https://youtu.be/lpQW_A7L8wg
nice try mate!

Legowelt is not a musician. But only a collector.

Jeesh, you can dislike him and his music, but he's published more than this whole forum combined and tours constantly.

The Synth and DrumMachine of his collection, were used to make the history of music!
In his hands they have not produced anything important, no hit, no important collaborations.. and his music is boring metronome!
I am sure that in this forum too, there are much more talented users of him

I think that you should read better his wikipedia page ....

He's been successful enough to live off his music and performances, which is way more than most musicians ever accomplish.

Complain about 4/4 house and techno all you want, go try and dance to Aphex Twin and Squarepusher if spastic beats float your boat.

I don't think he's particularly great, but clearly he has fans, rocks shows, and gets paid. I don't think you can argue with that.

but seriously, legowelt sounds like an injury obtained from stepping on a child's toy. he's got some skeelz, though.

Everyone's going to have their fans & their critics, all music is subjective & what works for one, does not necessarily work for others.
But you are basing their whole music on whether it is a hit or not.

There are numerous music tracks out there that have been hits but are definitely not for me? Does that make it terrible music not necessarily.
