korg m3 expanded data reload

Post by tj1978 »

Hi There

Please can you advise on how to reload all the factory data for the expanded OS on the m3.

im recently a happy owner on a second hand 73 note m3 of which the previous owner has made some changes to the programs and combis..

I have downloaded the expanded zip file direct of the manufacturers website which provides a folder full of the combi, programs, etc in "bin" format..

If i go to the global mode i see an option to reload factory data, but im assuming that would be the pre-expanded data not the expanded ?

Im just a bit confused on it all and would appreciate some guidance

Many thanks

If the expanded OS was installed correctly then using the Load Preload/Demo Data menu command in Global mode should load the expanded version of the programs and combis. You should not need to use anything in the zip file you downloaded.

OK, thanks

Do i need to have the expanded zip file availble in USB for the expanded progrmas and combis and drumkits to load through this menu option or are they all stored internally ready to be recalled?

much appreciated

No, the zip file is not needed. The M3 can't even open a zip file.

The only thing you may need on a USB stick is the EXPCM04.KEP file. This is for V1 pianos. The internal SD card on the original M3 does not have enough space to store this file. But don't work about it, you probably wont miss it.

Thanks for your advice
ill attempt the reload tonight.. hopefully all will go well
i presume all the drumkits added in the expanded edition will also be reloaded..

i believe that my m3 has a 1gig sd card in it but has only the first 3 additional sets on the card strings 1 and 2 and the great piano sound..

Regards
