Before the most recent OS update, people (including myself) experienced playback problems with it. You could record a five or six minute performance and the playback would stop after 2 or 3 minutes. This fault was not consistent though.
Since the OS update, the Event Recorder has been rock solid FOR ME. It has never missed a beat... BUT... my tracks are rarely longer than six minutes. Also, I'm not sure if playing back an Event Recording allows for any kind of MIDI sync with external devices (as i use my Electribes on their own...)

If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

a follow up question, if i may. is it possible to play back an event recording with the electribe running as midi beat clock slave? i´d like to use my roland mc-909 as midi master. thank you.apapdop wrote:I'm not sure if playing back an Event Recording allows for any kind of MIDI sync with external devices

This. Also, although I haven't used it at all, I believe it is merely a rendered wav file, so it will likely not adapt to tempo changes.musicmagus wrote:The event recorder doesn't work at all unless the E2/E2s is set to internal clock.

It's not a rendered .wav file. It's a MIDI sequence. You have control over the synth parameters as it plays back, although these "overdubs" cannot be recorded.

I should add that muting/unmuting/step jump etc is disabled during playback too. Like many aspects of the new Electribes, the Event Recorder is a "close but no cigar" answer to what people want. But the recording files are much smaller than a rendered .wav file, so they are easier to email/share etc. you can get some fantastic weirdness if you playback a recording with a different sample set to the intended one too!!

from the parameter guide:
EVENT RECORDER
When you record using the Event Recorder, the data is written to the KORG\electribe folder as a file named e_[number].e2ev.
so what´s the difference between a pattern set and an event recording when it comes to exporting? am i able to export an event recording at all? thanks.EXPORT P.SET AUDIO
Using this function, patterns that are registered as a pattern set can be exported as WAV files. Specify the range of set numbers for which patterns registered as a pattern set are exported as WAV files. The files are exported to the KORG\electribe\PatternSet Project\Audio folder of the memory card.
An Event Recording cannot be rendered into a .wav file. It is a MIDI recording of a "performance" (mutes/unmutes/pattern changes/knob tweaks etc).

Maybe if you have no other samples on it and want to record 4.5 minutes in mono. It seems to be built for short one-shot samples.Tee-hee wrote:i see. can i resample an event recording (with the e2s, of course) in order to make a wav file out of it?
For comparison:KORG electribe sampler wrote:There can be up to a total of 999 preset and user samples, and a maximum of 270 seconds of sampling time (calculated as monaural) can be used.
Roland SP-404SX wrote:Samples: 120 (12 samples x 10 banks) (stored on SD card)
The maximum sampling time (size) for a single sample is approximately 180 minutes in stereo (2 GB).
Card capacity 32GB / Approx.48 hours Stereo (96 hours Mono)
It can resample, i'm not sure if it can resample whilst an Event Recording is playing back though. It's not something i've tried. I haven't access to mine right now. Anybody else?Tee-hee wrote:i see. can i resample an event recording (with the e2s, of course) in order to make a wav file out of it?
