ES2/E2 users: were you aware..?

Post by sauce »

This may have been covered here before I had my unit, and the search function for this forum is, well..

Anyway, were you aware that holding down shift and hitting the play button triggers the beginning of the pattern without quantization, independently of pattern position, similar to the pad to the left of "record" on the ESX/EMX?

If this has been covered before, sorry. I stumbled upon the feature a few moments ago and it came in handy in a track, building some tension before a bass drop.

Carry on.

It's a fun trick for fills and things, especially when combine with muting tracks.

Shift + play just restarts the sequencer. It doesn't put you in unquantized recording mode.

I tried not to say anything either, but I know there are things that come up that are in the manual and it might remind some people to look a bit harder before calling them "undocumented".

Please note that I am not saying that it isn't beneficial for people to point out stuff they figure out themselves, that part is awesome!

Tried this...ehhhh not as exciting as I had thought. Does not take anything out of quantize, just a resetting of the sequence playback. Yes, finally saw it in the Program guide.

I didn't say it! Lol.. I know someone did. Anyway, I hadn't seen it either. In a way, that it is a documented feature is very bad news. It means that there are, possibly, no more hidden Easter eggs to be found.

A careful reading of the manual by many people on this forum might cause a few Oh Wows.

SNAP.

"Oh wow.. I can't believe they left out that important feature. Seriously, it *must* be in here, after all, this is not the 1980's..."

For some people, it's more like "Oh wow, I guess I'll read the manual before I make my next gear purchase, instead of relying on my fantasies and assumptions."

For others, it's more like "Oh wow, I've been complaining because I can't do something on the electribe, but it says how on page 17."

Either way, pour yourself a tall glass of attention span and read it.

Who am I talking to? No one in this thread, actually. I'm talking to people with post counts of 1 who show up to complain the samples go away after shutdown. They, of course, are not reading this thread - they don't read anything. Which makes this entire post's effectiveness highly suspect.
