Logic Pro X and ES2

Post by dawe9chris »

I am looking for some help/advice with regards to setting up Logic Pro X with my ES2. What I have in mind was setting up a midi track on Logic that would control the ES2 i.e. drawing in the notes in Logic to play the sound that is currently selected on the ES2 which is then fed into my mixer (Behringer Xenyx 502) and back into a Logic Audio Track.
Sorry if I haven’t made myself clear, MIDI is new and pretty confusing to me.

I have seen some tutorials on youtube where people have set something similar to this up with other instruments (Korg Kronos) but whenever I try to do this with the ES2 I can’t find it under the External Instruments. I don’t know if it is because there is a problem with the Korg Midi port, or if I have it set up incorrectly. Currently I have the MiDI set to “External MIDI” and there is a midi jack running from the midi out port of the ES2 to USB in my iMac. I have scoured various forums, but haven’t seen anyone else having this problem.

If anyone has any tips or has experienced this I’d really appreciate hearing from you. Also, if you think you might be able to help, but I haven’t explained it well enough, let me know so I can try and get what I mean across.

Thanks

You need to plug the cable to the in port of the E2 not the out port
Also did you try using the mini USB port on the electribe instead of the midi ports? There have been reports of the mini jack to midi adaptors not working on the electribe
I don't know logic too well but then you should be able to select the midi channel you want to play from the electribe
The external midi in the E2 and most others iirc are for midi clock

Hey thanks for the reply. I struggled for ages and just when I thought all hope was lost, I went and bought a new USB cable which turns out was the problem. I am all hooked up now and Logic is recognising the device. Cheers for your help.
