No copy & paste bars ?? :(

Post by Panason »

Hi all, just got the new electribe sampler and am pretty happy with it....

However, say I make a 1-bar pattern and want to expand it to a 2-bar pattern by increasing the pattern length and then copying the first bar into the empty second bar so I can then shift a few notes around... Looks like this simple function is not available !????

The user manual is really disappointing...

When you change the length from 1 bar to 2 bars it automatically copies bar 1 to bar 2. But otherwise, there is no copy bar feature.

However this trick doesn't work if there's any data in the later bars - even if you've decreased the pattern length again.

So if you set pattern length to 4, create some stuff in bars 3 and 4, then set the pattern length to 1, and then set the pattern length to 4 again to copy bar 1 it won't work.

Besides, this trick can't be used on just a single voice - pattern length is for all voices, so you can't just have a pattern and then think "I just want to copy and repeat bar 1 for just the hihats".

Which isn't going to help much if you want a tiny change at the end.

actually, the Last Step function doesn't work for this purpose :x

I thought it would allow for 2- bar loops within 4-bar patterns but it doesn't work as expected.... what the hell where they thinking?

That about describes the complete (lacking) interface of the E2.

The way its currently implemented is to work within 16 beat increments. So if you change the Last Step to say, 4, then only the first four beats in each bar will play. For some this might work and you can use this to create interesting changes, but it'd be nice too to be able to set the start and end point anywhere from 1-64 so that you could loop a certain section if you wish.

On top of that, it would also be really cool if Korg gave us the option to set a Global Last Step along with the individual Part Last Steps...
