PUMPING!

Post by chaglan »

HI,
I'm interested in duplicating the pumping sound used in EDM.
Does anyone know how to do this on the Krome? Can it be done on a Krome? I have read that it involves a compression technique known as side chaining. Anything? anybody?
Thanks

Hi

Start to do it from init combi and follow this:
Select one Synth sound on the Timbre 1. (D019 for example).
Rout the Timbre 1 to Ifx 1.
Choose the Stereo Limiter for Ifx1.

Select the drum sounds on the timbre 10. (E106 House kit for example).
Select the Drum pattern (P404 Techno Train K1+s1).
Drum Pattern MIDI Ch-10.

Open the Routing/IFX Page P8, Fx control 9-16
Select the Fx Control Bus 1 on timbre 10 (Drums), (the control bus is off by default)

Now Edit the Stereo Limiter for synth:

Envelope Source - FX Control 1
Now the Stereo Limiter have a side chain using the control 1 from drums.
If start the Drum Pattern the sounds will be pumped.
Adjust the Threshold, Attack, Release to have the exactly resoults what you looking for.

If you need the sound with side chain without drums sounds. Open the Routing /IFX page and select the Timbre 10 Bus output from L/R to off.

Now the Drum Pattern work but you don't hear it. Just sent the control 1 to Stereo Limiter.

Hope to understand the procedure. If not I can send you the combi example.
Best regards,
Dan

P.S. My Vintage Collection have more sounds using this trick and more.
