Paul Hartnoll (Orbital) on the new Electribe
If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

To me, they sound remarkably like the beats you can hear on any number of Orbital tracks.DiscoDevil wrote:Those patterns he's playing aren't very inspiring...

"I've also been having a lot of fun with this new electribe 2."
"You're far better off with something like this that has got a limited set of sounds. But if you gel with the sounds it's got, it's probably gonna do you for an album, get the job done."
"That's what I've found with this, actually. I've really been getting into it. I sort of started off quite tentative, started exploring the sounds on it, and kind of realizing with these editing features there's enough going on there with the filter and the insert effects and the amp."
"For me to get these really good sounds that are in there right from the start, and tailor them to how I want them to be."
"While it's limited in some ways, it's got enough for you to really make it your own."
"I've been coming up with quite a lot of beats out of this that I think are certainly going to make it onto the next album."
"I've been getting a lot of joy out of that. It's just been good. It's a nice place to start without looking at a computer or thinking about too many options."

Hilarious. When you lay them all out it sounds even more contrived.Ted3000 wrote:"I've also been having a lot of fun with this new electribe 2."

I had a feeling this would be an interesting thread to start. People's reactions to the video are soooo heavily shaped by their prior views on the new electribes. What you conclude from the video is precisely what you want to conclude from it.
For me, the guy is saying that he finds the new electribe a good place to start, a fun tool to make beats and rhythmic synth patterns quickly without getting bogged down in presets/options and then export into Ableton to work on further and add to. He doesn't use superlatives, mentions the word "limited" at least once and doesn't hint that he's going to replace all his kit with a (very tiny looking) electribe.
Is it really that hard to believe that what he's saying is what he actually thinks of the machine?

I used Tarekith's trick on mine an now it sits perfectly flat.wasstof wrote:He's got a Wobbly One! You can see it rock on the desk when he first touches it, mine did that but I've cured mine, just a bit of card under the bottom right foot!
