Will Korg offer editing software for the electribe ??

Post by Panason »

One of the reasons I chose this machine instead of older gear is that it has a USB port so I naively assumed there would be some kind of official software for detailed edting of patterns and voices.... seems I was wrong, and the "Ableton Live integration" isn't exactly sleek.... correct me if I'm wrong but the only way to put patterns back into the electribe is to record them over MIDI?

You can save individual patterns to the SD card and reload them too.

Search this forum, there is a pattern editor for the E2. The are sample managers for the e2s but no pattern editor yet.

They've never done one before so why should they do one now.
Once you have an electribe, you will get bored with it and sell it for 2/3 of the price...........
If they had listened to their people for once in their arrogant lives, we'd have had the most banging, brilliant dance machine ever.

tracks dropping out,
gaps between patterns
4 bars
separate synth and sampling OS

F**K OFF........

I'll wait another 10 years for the electribe 3 and I might be satisfied

Ableton Live integration is purely an audio function (it just outputs each parts audio into an Ableton Live format)

If you want to manage patterns, you will have to do as musicmagus said and export the patterns individually to an SD card and reload them as needed.

If you want to actually edit patterns externally from the electribe, yes, midi is the way to go (through sending midi in and out from the electribe itself, not from the exported pattern data obv).

I've been using Renoise for this as I can export each midi channel to individual note lanes easily and send precise modulation etc. Though obviously things like oscilator, filter, mod, amp and fx settings aren't saved, but if you just want to edit the patterns midi data or knob modulation better a daw is your best bet. (though I have sampled the output of each part into renoise as well to get a good representation of the above settings and just left some notes to be able to re-create the pattern if anything... But it's a bit of a hassle and wasn't the reason I did it)

If you just want to manage your exported files, a file browser is your best bet.

Hi Guys
I am looking into creating a MAX editor, but need some info I can't find...

First of all, is there a way to get "sysex dumps" from the unit?
Is there a fill Midi Implementation chart? (Not the one page in the back of the manual, the full spec...)

I found the MAX pattern editor DOES work (if you rename the file) to a degree, but will have to get a full overall for the electrib sampler. (That is why I need to full midi spec)

Just a few of my thoughts.

ps - this is not such a disaster machine as 'some' make out it to be. If you understand (as with any sampler) that you need to load your data before you start working on or in the machine, it becomes quite a powerful little beast. I have created some AWESOME loops using the right tools and will soon be releasing some kick-arse (BRITISH vulgar slang) loops, sounds and patterns...

ps2 - this machine is also with it's 4 bar pattern, nothing else but "Ableton in a box" with some nice added features. If you look at it like that, you will soon get to understand not only the limitations, but also the power this machine holds.

ps3 - Get yourself some SD cards and always start with the blanked-out samples and patterns form http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpbb2/ ... p?p=654640 and http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=97993

If you still have a problem, then sell the box and get something else, else, JUST MAKE SOME TUNES and stop slaggin'. It is not constructive...

kind regards
Aubrey

I thought my comment was constructive....just browsing through the electribe forum on a bad day - sorry to people offended but happy with the support also.

It would be brilliant if korg did put together an electribe editor which is really polished/slick and not have to rely on keen users to put together SOMETHING THAT KORG SHOLD HAVE DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the pattern editor could be expanded to 8 or 16 bars but saves as 2 or 4 separate pattern files all you would have to worry about is THE F**KING GAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd love the E2 to keep the existing drums and have sampler option, and the sampler to keep it's drums and have synth option.

STILL ON OS 1.10

Who cares, I'd like to know if they are actually going to implement proper editing in hardware first :)
