Volca sampler midi in protools help

Hi all,
I'm trying to get any response from my Volca sampler via midi from protools and could use some help. I've checked the following:

1. MIDI RX is ON
2. Midi cable is working (cross checked on other synth)
3. Cleared sequence
4. Using MIDI monitor to see midi messages from keyboard controller to Volca MIDI in.

I've tried sending midi via multiple channels to the Volca MIDI in (1-10), CC messages and still nothing. What am I missing???

you got parts un-muted in the sample?

i'm not sure if there is a global MIDI receive setting, might be worth checking the manual? i don't remember ever changing mine and have successfully got clock and note on/off signals from various random other bits of gear.

maybe try just clock first to see if you can sync with the protools clock?

Parts are un-muted on Volca.

Just tried sending midi directly via an Alesis QX25, bypassing the midi interface/Protools. Tried sending notes and cc messages, still nothing.

I have a feeling maybe the midi port is fried on my Volca. I'm deflated.
