E2 failing encoder

Post by supermows »

Hi guys, I think my e2 filter encoder is broken :( if i turn it up slowly it works ok, but when doing it faster, it's skippy and sometimes it even decreases values instead of increasing... However it works ok the other way. It happened exactly the same with my waldorf blofeld and i got it replaced so i guess it'll need to be fixed :( any suggestion before sending it?
Thanks!

Get the appropriate Deoxit and spray some in there; that may fix it. It works on the ESX encoder about half the time. I'm sorry you're having this issue so early on.

If it's still under warranty just send it back for repairs is my vote. Not worth dealing with something this early on if you can just get it fixed and not have to worry about it anymore.

Otherwise Deoxit and a can of compressed air are probably your best bets.

This is the stuff: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hosa-D5S-6-Deox ... Swd0BVyoF7

If you are in the USA this is a good price; if not, search locally.

I would use the fade Lube version of deoxIt, but the regular will work also, though I'm not guaranteeing either will fix it it just depends how bad it is. Kinda crummy to be having problems so early on, I'd second for having it fixed if under warranty.

Here's a link to fader lube

The precision applicator is best, but the spray has never harmed any of my gear from overspray. YMMV

Edit: damned autocorrect changing my words.....

I have returned two electribes with the same issue as you describe thankfully I purchased mine in a local music store and not online as I sometimes do. It made the return process simple and easy
