Sheet/Score music creator for iPad

Post by BR »

Hi,
I am looking for a Sheet/Score creator App for iPad. I found and tried some of them on App stores.
They are not reliable (crashed) or missing some features that I need such Midi recording.
I have Garage Band but I couldn't find the Score (Notation) view on it or it doesn't have this feature.
I want to connect my PA900 to iPad and be able to record and edit notation/score for printing out.
I would appreciate it if somebody can recommend a reliable App or any guidance.
Thank you

I use Sibelius on my iMac for notation, and then export a pdf to ForScore to display on my iPad. You can annotate the pdf on ForScore. I have also set up each song on opening to send a MIDI signal to the Pa900 to select the appropriate song in my Songbook.

Thank you Graham for your input.
I will take a look at the ForScore.
Actually I have Logic Pro 9 in my iMac and I could use it for my project but I was wondering if I can use my iPad with some App that has same features like Sibelius or Logic for the same project when I am out of home and far away from my iMac.
Anyway I'll give a try to your suggestion and be back eventually for some questions.
It's always interesting to learn the new stuff.
Thanks.

Graham does the ForScore have the feature of Midi connectivity for showing the notes when we play on Pa900? or it's only designed for displaying the PDF sheet/score music on iPad?
Thank you

According to their User Guide, I think the MIDI connectivity is limited. I am not sure what you are hoping to do, but here's what I found on their website:

In the “MIDI” section of the metadata panel, you can assign a unique command to each score and open it with some MIDI devices. You can also save a list of commands to be sent out each time that score is opened. If you plan to use the same set of commands more than once, presets make it easy to save them and assign them to other scores later.
Note: USB-enabled MIDI devices can often connect to an iOS device via Apple’s Camera Connection Kit, while others may require an adapter like the iRig Midi.

Hope this helps

Thanks Graham for the info it's always helpful.
Actually I want to connect my PA900 to my iPad and be able to record simple melodies with for example Piano sound and edit notation/score for printing out. I want just to make some sheet music of the songs that I play with different singers.

IPad and Keyboard

Try the UnReal Book App. It is in PDF format.
From what I have read it does link up with the keyboard. I scan my written music (the Encore Program) or lyrics with chords and load them into the IPad using ITunes.

Thanks Bruno for the info.
Can we record MIDI data with UnReal Book App when connected to Pa900 and display the notation?
Thanks
