ES MKII song mode Mutes/Solos

Post by dedzyyy »

I'm having trouble.

I'm programming in a song in song mode and there appears to be prerecorded solos and mutes that are messing things up for me.

Does anyone know how to delete things solos/mutes?

Thanks!

Isn't there a shift function to clear performance data in song mode? Shift and one of the step pads, and it should be marked. Otherwise the manual is your friend.

On further inspection, I've realised the there's a pattern that will mute and unmute a part, which doesn't happen when I play the pattern in pattern mode!.
Also there's 1 extra hi hat note that sounds, which doesn't when in pattern mode?!

yes, if you press record while in song mode it will record performance data. that data is recorded to the song, not the individual patterns. you can clear the data via a shift button, not sure which one Im away from the studio right now. Again, this is all in the manual.

I'd have thought it would be 'Clear Motion', which does nothing in song mode.
I cleared motion in pattern mode on the pattern it's happening on and no joy.

Still doesn't explain the extra hi hat note... weird.

Notes can be recorded in song mode as well. Perhaps I was wrong about the shift function though, maybe you just had to record over it and not do anything as I believe record always overwrites previous data.

Clear song would also work, but you'd then have to reprogram the song.

I've ended up redoing the song. programming in the patterns.
I keep a written note of each step, so not too bad.
Seems to have fixed the problem. God knows how I managed to record in mutes and extra notes. I've not even touched the mute function!

Thanks for your help guys!

Maybe you didn't realize you were recording? Or if you didn't clear the song and just changed the patterns it would have the data from the previous song still.

Glad it's all sorted now.
