Electribe usb cable
Hello everyone. I have a question about the usb cable for the electribe. What is it for? is it only to hook up to another piece of gear? it seems that you cant record directly to ableton with it, you can't get updates using the cable either. Is that it? so... we have to use the memory card for downloading the sounds to ableton and updates. Please explain. Tks
It is for MIDI In and Out over USB when connected to a computer or iPad using a camera connection adaptor. You can for example use one or more parts on the electribe to control and play a softsynth or a softsampler. Or you can run a sequencer (#songmode) and use the electribe as a keyboard and a 16 part multitimbral sound module.
It is not "USB Host" which means you can not connect a USB device directly to the electribe2.
You can not update over USB and you can not read the content of the SD card over USB.
The USB cable is not included. It is a special small type.

Well, if you go to a store and mention "standard" you may also get the wrong one because that refers to USB 3.0Tom 62 wrote:There is nothing "special" on this cableZ7A wrote:It is a special small type. It's a standard Micro USB cable.
USB Type A is what most people know as USB. Then there is a long list of special USB connectors. Standard A, Standard B, mini-A, mini-B, micro-A, micro-B, Type C, and USB 3.0 micro-B. I had several types of cables already but not this one. It is something to be aware of. I think it is rather bad that it was not included, and I will need to buy one more now.
