Wanted to update my Kronos 2.01 to 3.03. The PDF manual isn't clear as which files should be unzipped and loaded into the Kronos.
Can anyone please tell me the exact files I should unzip and load into the Kronos before I screw up the whole OS system
thanks Frank
All KRONOS software updates include a PDF with installation instructions.

Follow these instructions carefully, and you'll be fine. If you have any questions after reading these instructions, let us know.

So any idea what the change is in this mystery new version Dan? Something related to loading LKMs?

I am surprised that no one from Korg has commented on this. Either the posting date is an error or it is a new release. It is reasonable to ask for clarification. Thank you in advance for any assistance in this matter.

Has anyone actually contacted KORG and asked them?
Posting the question here on the forum and expecting a reply doesn't count since we are not KORG. :!:

Just did a file compare and found the only difference is the size of loadmod.ko in KRONOS_Update_3_0_3.tar/mnt/sbin

Old 111,198 bytes dated 7/19/2015
vs
New 52,290 bytes dated 12/21/2015

Anybody know what loadmod.ko is?

It appears loadmod.ko is part of the system files integrity check. At boot time if the CRC of the system files do not match a hard-coded value in loadmod.ko then the system bails out.

Bottom line ... looks like just a housekeeping change.

I have inquired about the new update but cannot find anyplace that Korg has released a new update. Korg generally emails Kronos users about updates. This had me asking questions also but if you have 3.03 OS as far as i know that is the latest version. Korg websites have no OS updates that i can find. I looked everywhere but if someone finds a new update please post other than that just let the forum know. I emailed Korg but have not heard back because of the holidays.

loadmod.ko except File System Integrity check is also a proprietary of Linux kernel module but also it was linked with
the gmplib module ( licensing properties) in older OS versions and probably not linked anymore , that's why is smaller !
Therefore always Update to the lastest OS & firmware provided by Korg's website !

I updated yesterday from 303a to 303b just out of curiosity following this thread. All went ok. I don't notice any differences..., so not sure if it was worth the while. But it does not hurt either

My guess is that these latest changes are related to security so Korg won't talk about them publicly.

Just received an email from Korg Product Support and the rep said there was no difference between the 3.03 posted in July and the one in Dec. I downloaded the latest version anyway but could not tell any difference but who knows. So there you go.
