sp300 volume imbalance

Discussion relating to all other KORG Pianos related products that don’t have a dedicated section. For example, SP170, SP250, SP280, LP380, MICROPIANO and so on....

sp300 volume imbalance

Post by garethfza »

Hi all.
I have owned a Korg SP300 digital piano for some years. Recently I noticed a volume imbalance between the left and right channels when plugged into my home studio monitors. I have checked the output levels on headphones outs, as well with the piano's own speakers and the problem is consistent: the right channel level is significantly louder than the left.

Another interesting but possibly unrelated symptom is that the first headphone output is very noisy, whereas the second one is fairly clean.

I have had a technician look at the piano and replace some components, but with no improvement. The Technician now believes that the problem is with the main processor chip, which I'm guessing is impossible or expensive to replace.

Can anyone suggest an alternative? Is there a way to reset the processor chip to factory settings? Or a way to source a spare for the main chip?

Any help is appreciated!

Did you ever figure out the cause of this?
