I hope it does. My mid 2014 Retina doesn't. The audio shutters and breaks. Sometimes it works for a short moment , then it will fall apart again. It's a buffering problem. It may be that the 2014 series is the only series that has that , since other MacBooks I own work just fine with the Kronos. I tried tow more 2014 Retina's - all the same issue, so it's not just my unit. Havent' tried the 2015 yet, but you'd better check it (let some music play over USB in on the Kronos for a longer while and see what happens.)

cheers. J

I have a 2015 Retina and it works fine.

JFP, are you still running Yosemite or did you upgrade to El Capitan? I had the same problem with stuttering, until I upgraded to El Capitan, now it seems to have been fixed.

Though now with El Capitan I have a new problem....Korg haven't got the Kross to be reliably recognised by it, so I have to do tricky power ups in the right sequence, bummer :-( Even then it may take a few go's.

However, all functionality with the Kronos seems to work well with both the Retina Mac and the latest OSX.

It's important to note that the Kronos playback/recording TO the Macbook is limited to the same audio that's going to its L/R outputs. This makes it tricky as an all in one soundcard solution in most applications. If you need to play back stuff from the Macbook (e.g. Ableton style) it's simple and well working though.

I have tried everything and I am in the lucky situation were I can try and test many different MacBooks from different ranges. Retina mid 2014 is the ONLY that doesn't want to talk properly with the Kronos (for audio playback) . Other Retina 2014 - same thing. 2013 , 2012 and older machines - no problem (same software configuration) . 2015 seems fine too according to you. So what's different with the 2014 chipset / buffering and is Korg willing to fix the issue...

You've just basically confirmed the problem is on the Macbook side but you want Korg to fix the issue?

Hi Deltajockey.

I'm still in Yosemite (MBP Mid 2015 retina too) and have the stuttering problem in my Kronos 2.

Can you confirm that the stuttering does not absolutely re-occur in El Capitan? I wanted to leave my interface when I go out and gig but the stuttering problem made me bring my rack again.

I'd like reconfirmation before i update to El Cap :)

Fresnel,

In the time since upgrading to El Capitan, I can say the stuttering has not happened once. I also have a 2012 mac air, which never had the problem at all.
I did find one issue with El Capitan on both my macs though, but it's not an issue for the Kronos, it relates to the Kross, and is a USB midi recognition issue, that is documented in the hardware compatibility chart.

I was a bit reluctant to upgrade early on with the reported issues, and didn't expect the stuttering to be fixed, but it must have been more than a coincidence. I have tried various buffer settings in Logic on my mac retina 2015, and have not had any problems at all.

I can't really offer any other support for this, other than my own experience, so I guess you just have to weigh up yourself.

Although I'm using an imac with Mountain Lion,I have had problems in the past with the Kronos usb audio etc.
A suggestion that may help is to set up an Aggregate Device in the Midi Set Up utility(applet).

Set the Kronos as "Re Sample This Device" and make sure the …. "Format" rate is 48000.0 Hz.
Then select the Aggregate Device as "Use This Device As Sound Input".

Also, try removing the Korg MIDI driver…some users find it better without it.

Currently in the process of trying out the latest osx.....just for fun,not sure what will happen.... :)

Best Wishes.

So OK. For me, there IS stuttering still. However, if I open Mainstage first then plug the Kronos for use... absolutely no stuttering...

How do i remove the korg driver?

To remove the Korg driver,go into the following folders.

Library
Audio
MIDI Drivers

Then delete the Korg usb driver.....into the trash etc.
(Note...the Editor will need this driver to work,if it's being used).

Do check if it has actually been removed following a re-boot of the mac and Kronos.

Another suggestion is to reduce the master slider control on the Kronos....although it may not help with stuttering,it can sometimes distort the sound if too high.

Further thoughts.....try connecting the Kronos into another usb port.
It can also sometimes help to use an usb 2 hub......but only try this if you already have one,as I can't recommend its purchase for trial purposes.

Best Wishes.
