Volca Bass filter cutoff is crusty...

I've been using my volca bass for approximately 2 years. A lot. When I turn the cutoff knob the sound distorts and wobbles, instead of nice smooth sweeps. Like it used too. Have I just worn this bad boy down?, or is this something I can fix? Maybe I need to open it up and clean it? I don't know enough about electronic gear. But I am dying to learn more. Does anyone have any wisdom on the matter they could share?
