Save patterns externally?

Post by p_wats »

I figure this is a pipe dream, but would it be possible to save Volca patterns externally? This would mean you don't have to be in constant worry of only having 8 slots.

Would any midi out mod or Volca Sample-style external sync facilitate this?

If not, how do you guys deal with it?

It's possible to save your individual sound preset patterns with the software from Fabrizio Poce. I have and love it. Beyond saving & preset management the DAW integration is seamless and there are some very interesting new functions added to the Volcas. Check the video on the bottom of J74 page.

I haven't done any hardware MIDI-out-mod to be able to store Volca's internal sequences externally though. So I have begun to sequence externally (either DAW or hardware). This way sequencing gets more comfortable, complex and the sequence storage problem is solved.

That is very interesting! Thanks. A lot more powerful than the simple save/recall patterns.

Hi all,

I had the impression that you can save parameter settings ( either via software or hardware) but not patterns that are already saved internally in the volca banks?

Maybe I misinderstood.

Thank you

Good point. Most of what I read specified saving'settings' not 'patterns.'

Thank for confirming, P-wats.

I guess existing/saved patterns in the volcas can be recorded to a daw and converted to midi and saved.

Cheers

Hi Ammanuel,

existing sequencer slots can't be stored thru J76, at least I didn't find a way to do it. That's why I sequence externally. You can save sound preset patches though.

Hi Dragan,

Yes, as you informed me on a previous thread, sadly, J76 cant transfer existing volca patterns to store.

I was suggesting maybe patterns can be recorded on Live as external instrument audio file and converted to midi tracks...it can be hit or miss how these conversion are true to the original.

Thank you

Hi Ammanuel,

your idea might actually work on Beats, but on Keys & Bass would probably be more difficult. The problem with the syths is that ther sound needed to be well defined (similar to percussion) otherwise there would be much too much editing work to do.

Most simple way would be to recreate the sequence patterns visually in DAW, which IMO would be faster as making them from audio.

Hi Dragan,

I agree. I hope Korg solves this thru firmware update ( I don't much about these programming etc...wishful thinking on my part)

Thank you
