Any info on an Upcoming Gadget update?
Hi. I'm new to the forum. I'm setting up a mobile self contained performance rig based solely on the ipad. I have been experimenting with a lot of apps and workflows and really love a lot of what Gadget has to offer. However there are some pretty troublesome issues/limitations, many of which appear to be addressed in other posts, such as the uneven midi implementation (great in the gadgets but nonexistent in the mixer, no ability to define midi channel for the app or individual gadgets, no clock synch), the awful velocity curve and the that I can't seem to get a feel for in many of the gadgets and the absence of a way to adjust it. In any event, there is also a ton to love about Gadget, not least of which are the sounds. The last update went a long way to significantly improving the app. An rumblings about when we might be able to expect another significant update? I can see the possibility of making Gadget a key component in the workflow of a live performance rig but right now there are too many issues.

Gadget v2.0 also provide the ability to share data between different pieces your devices via iCloud, new EQ and compressor are appearing on every Virtual Console, an arpeggiator is added to all types of Gadgets keyboard, Chord Trigger happens, meanwhile all polyphonic keyboard Gadgets and you will enjoy an Undo / Redo in the sequencer.
Also being made universal, so iPhone support

Please dear Korg, add some serious MIDI options such as input channel selection per gadget. With a more professional MIDI implementation this would make an excellent live instrument.
And I remember someone once upon a time promised audio tracks... It's still mentioned on the website. Never going to happen?

I would way rather effects and midi like you mentioned than audio tracks!Munibeast wrote:Please dear Korg, add some serious MIDI options such as input channel selection per gadget. With a more professional MIDI implementation this would make an excellent live instrument.

With one of the new korg wireless controllers gadget could become a better groove box than the electribe!
Speaking from a developer's point of view... (and I sincerely hope that I don't come across as condescending)
iMS-20 and iPolysix were released well before Gadget. I mean, I think that having the iElectribe as a gadget would be amazing, but... I also know how much money and work is involved to rewrite these apps to implement compatibility with Gadget, whereas iM1 and Module were likely written from the ground up with Gadget in mind.
Also, I would wager money that Korg has invested a ton of money into Gadget, and that it is unlikely that they have had much of a return on their investment (if any at all).
It's not that I don't agree that having other Korg apps available as gadgets would be wonderful. I'm just trying to be objective from a business standpoint.
Granted, my statements in this post are pure speculation. But I have experience in software development, along with owning several businesses (some successful, some not so much) to aid what I feel is an educated guess.
But still... Here's to maintaining hope that we will have our old Korg apps as gadgets in the near future!
And to leave on a positive note, I love the fact that my 1st Gen iPad can still run iElectribe, iMS-20, and iPolysix. That may not be the case if the apps were rewritten... ?
