Frozen While Updating 3.0.4 OS SOLVED!

Post by Falcon2e »

I have followed the instructions for updating OS. Here's the fault. I got as far as the Global drop down box>tapped update OS. The message on the screen says "found version 3.0.4 updater files" "press OK to install". I have done that and nothing is happening. Now what? I'm not going to do anything until someone helps me. I'm afraid to power off.

OK, I finally got the guts to power down. After boot up, I started the update procedure over. I formatted the flash drive again and copied ALL the files from the download to it. This time I inserted the flash drive in the port on the right (view from the playing position). All is well again, wow, scary!

bad flash drives

Post by savont »

I had exactly the same problem, I used an old flash drive first and it failed to install and Initially thinking that because it stopped mid way it would brick the operating system. So I changed to a better flash drive and then the install worked perfectly. I count myself Lucky. My lesson learnt.. use a good USB key.

I also have the exact same problem. I'm using a brand new 8gb flashdrive. I formatted it to quick and FAT32 in the Kronos and then copied the files. It froze as described above so using the suggestions, I reformatted the drive with Full format and FAT32. I then reloaded all of the downloaded files in the KRONOS-Update_304 directory. It froze again. I don't understand why the Manuals file needs to be on there but I did as instructed. Still no luck. Any other solutions. This new flash drive seems to be fine as it shows the right files on it.

you should have nothing but the 10 files to load, on your USB.

no other folder with a name or title on it to open

These are the files that I understand I'm supposed to copy to the flash drive:

Manuals (a folder)
mnt (a folder)
bc
DisplayUpdaterMessage
install.info
KRONOS_Update_3_0_4.csum
KRONOS_Update_3_0_4.tar.gz
md5sum
posttar.sh
pretar.sh
Which 10 files are you referring to?

I think I solved this. I was plugging in the flash drive and then selecting to update the system. According to Korg's directions, you are to select update system and plug in the flash drive when instructed. It loaded right up this time.
P.S. I used the files and folders shown in my previous post.
