korg electribe 2 mfx send & midi problems

Post by nickalinio »

hello
i'm having some problems with the electribe 2
i use a arturia microbrute via midi to the electribe 2
so everything is working smooth but i was wondering the synth is on pad nr 1
but could i use more pads for the synth that i have different sequences for the synth?
and the other thing is if i try using mfx send on the synth it shuts down no more sound in the electribe keyboard or sequencer if i press the synth itself there is still sound if i shut the synth on/off i can use it again on the sequencer from the electribe pretty annoying even if i put the mfx send off for the synth part it still shuts it down if i use it on other parts but i don't know why any help would be much appreciated
thanks in advance nick

I also use the Microbrute with the e2.
If I understand you are asking if you can use the Microbrute on more than one track at once? You can't because it's is a mono timbral synth.
On question 2 I don't know. 😕
01/WFD - M3 - MS-20 - Volca Bass - Volca Beats - Volca Keys - electribe emx2 - Monotron - KP3+ - iPad with too many Korg apps

Moog Sub 37 - Arturia Microbrute - Roland Gaia SH-01 - Boss DR660 - Akai S1000 - Akai S01 - Yamaha RM1x - Roland SP-404SX

Correct, that's because every pad outputs on a different midi channel.

I don't really understand your question
Are you running the microbrute through the audio input of the E2?
If so you need to put external oscillator for the part you are using the mini brute on.
Also if you don't know this, you could set 2 or more parts as oscillator in and use different insert effects and filter settings to get some parallel processing going on

i'm using the arturia on the e2 via midi, i'm not using the audio in from the e2 should i use it ? i'm fairly new to the hardware world so i'm not so experienced

It depends on how you want to use it.
Personally I use only the sequencer to send patterns to the microbrute.
Obviously the audio won't pass through the e2 and so I cannot use the master fx and all the mod and filter of the the e2.
If you want to do so you just need to connect the output from your microbrute to the audio in of the e2 and then set the relevant Oscillator to Audio In mode.
I've never tried that cause I prefer having two separate tracks when it comes to mixing but I reckon it should be pretty straightforward.

That's what I was suspecting, it's a common beginner issue
Midi is only data, no actual sound so to use both synths together you need to connect midi AND audio, into a mixer, or into the audio inputs
Hope it works out for you
Do try that trick I mentioned above, it can really thicken up your sounds

This is a great tip. I tried it last night with my guitar connected to the audio in and put the audio in oscillator on 6 different channels, panned them right across the spectrum and had different EQ/modulation/IFX on each channel, plus had a few running through the MFX. Came up with some very interesting sounds, can't wait to explore them further. The more I use the E2S the better it gets, there are a lot of possibilities with this machine beneath what is on the surface 8)
