Kronos wont restore
I accidentally pressed the format button for my SSD. About 15 seconds later the keyboard made a steady tone and displayed the need to shut down. I tried to restart and I tried to restore the operating system and it won't respond to the disc. I also tried a different disk drive with no success and the same results but after about 30 seconds it displays an error in loading and to shut down and to retry starting .Help! Does anyone know how I can get the operating system on the drive inside or outside of the Kronos and put it in? I also tried a new SSD with the same results. Would taking the battery out of the keyboard itself help anything. I am desperate to get it running and unlike many other companies Korg does not have a tech person to speak to ,only email and so far they have just emailed me a quote out of the manual on how to restore from disk.
Sorry to hear about your problem....
I can only make a few suggestions, but can't guarantee any success.
Although it is possible to recover form this,by the re-install route, that is if you know the dvd player will work with the Kronos…..not all do.
It seems something else may be preventing further progress.
I'm assuming you have followed the guide…..especially the wait time between off and on etc.
As you have another ssd,try using that one, again.
Disconnect the original and connect the new one in either port.(You may need to swap over to the other port if things don't work, though).
The Kronos should format the drive as its first task and proceed from there.
The battery supports the clock and has nothing to do with any other problems etc.
Korg normally have good support…..try contacting them again.
Good Luck.

Thanks
Thanks for your ideas , yes I tried those methods also but no luck. The Korg support is less than I was expecting. Yesterday I took it to Full Compass Music near Madison WI. to get restored. I'll post the results and solution next week. They are really nice and the place is huge. I hope korg supports them as dealers with ideas better than they did me as a customer. I'm feeling very let down as an owner of 7 korg boards and other korg gear. Good sounds but bare bones tech support compared to my dealings with Yamaha &Roland . Korg (email only support) basically sent me short quotes from the manual via email for two issues I've had. This was after I included in my question email to them that I had tried those exact steps in the manual without success. It's as if they didn't read my question and just shot out the"try what you just tried and see if it works" . Polite emails within 24 hrs but I like to speak to people for help.
Thank you for the reply and update.
Sorry to learn that you couldn't resolve the problem, but pleased that there's some help form a dealer.
I'm sure it'll be a "simple"(?)..matter for them to sort it out.
As for Korg support,I am surprised you didn't get a better response.
Here in the UK they are excellent, not only with email(once contact is established, usually within a few days),but also an option of phone conversations with an offer to help.
(Although phone calls can sometimes resolve things quicker,I prefer emails.....time to think...).
I had a keyboard problem which took months to deal with, several attempted "repairs" etc,(which wasn't successful, unfortunately)but the service I had was beyond expectations.
Even had an invitation to their center to further the investigation, but had to decline due to personal health difficulties.
However,I accepted their chief demonstrator's opinion and examination(by playing the Kronos),in my absence, as a final conclusion.
(The problem was related to velocity levels on certain keys using the German Grand Piano.....the conclusion being that nothing could be done to resolve it,which I eventually accepted as "one of those things".
I no longer use the German Grand, but use the Japanese Pianos instead without any problems.
).
I'm lucky that there hasn't been anything else wrong with my keyboard.....even added a second ssd, without a hitch.(Tempting fate here,perhaps....).
I do hope yours will return in a fine condition, soon.
Best Wishes.

Re: Thanks
Korg the US distributor likely relies on Korg service centers. There is an extensive list if you go the Korg site. Full compass music should also know a good and closest Korg service center.simonsezzband wrote:Thanks for your ideas , yes I tried those methods also but no luck.
