Using the ESX-1SD as a standalone drum machine

I have the following questions regarding the ESX1's capabilities as a drum machine:
  • 1. Can I create patterns on the ESX and chain them into full songs with no restrictions on the complexity of the length and arrangement of the individual patterns?
  • 2. Is it possible to create MIDI files of drum tracks on my computer, then transfer them to the ESX so as to avoid having to re-program the drum patterns manually?
Any comments from experienced ESX users are very much appreciated.
