For live gigging, I use a pair of Peavey PR10's for small gigs and PR15's for larger gigs with my Behringer PM1280 Powered Mixer. I upgraded the tweeters in the PR15's so they have a higher DPL and wattage, but they still do not sound like QSC's. However, they are VERY light with plastic cases and they really do sound bright and clear.
I am thinking of getting the Bose Compacts for stereo. I had a unit and liked it very much for small venues. The key is balance between performance and weight/ease of setup.

Decision Time
As I already have a Bose L1 Model 11 with Tone Match I have decided to purchase an L1 Compact. This hopefully will allow me to run in Stereo and get somewhere near the sound I want from the Piano. If that still doesnt work I may just sell all the Bose and get the QSC's

I don't use my spacestation v.3 with subwoofer in a studio. I use it with piano and it is the most live sounding I've used. It's not for rock and roll. It won't provide the volume for that. But it does very nicely up to a medium sized venue. Look it up on the internet http://aspenpittmandesigns.com/about/I would like to test the QSC K10's but at £600 per Speaker it creates a problem especially when I think I paid £2600 for the Bose and it still doesnt do the job. members keep saying theirs sounds good but its always in a studio environment. I want to hear someone say My Live gigging speakers sound fantastic on the Piano sounds of the PA4."

I have two Bose L1 Compacts for sale. This is my second set, and they haven't been used much. Still in warranty. I don't need two sets anymore!
I will take $1,400. for them.

What speakers do you use ?
I use Focal SBe active speakers. These have a terrific clear and neutral midrange, and a Beryllium tweeter for the higher frequencies. If you need more bass there are other models in the range.
(They have limited bass due to their size)
I used to use other speakers such as Harbeth Xpressions with a Hafler power amp. The weakness were the high frequencies on the Harbeths.
Most amateurs who have keyboard synths probably don't realise how good they can sound because they used inaccurate "coloured" speakers which bring their own character. Sometimes these sound 'warm' and nice, but are not really representative of the audio from the digital synth.
On my main audio I use electrostatics, but these are something else, incredible accuracy of tonal sound, and very few moving coil loudspeakers come anywhere close. It then comes down to the ancilliary equipment and room acoustics.
If you can't afford good speakers then get some quality headphones from Sennheiser, Beyer or similar.
It makes a lot of sense to have active speakers by a quality manufacturer.
