Can Kronos produce Tiko's sound?

Post by MusicLive »

Been listening to Tiko Lasola on Sound Cloud.

He plays some fantastic compositions and he's a Great Musician but there's one piano sound of his I would love to create on my Kronos.

He plays a piece called 'Fireflies' and it has a lovely haunting piano that I
cannot seem to emulate.

Do any of you have any ideas as to how I can reproduce his piano sound
using just the Kronos?

Any help will, as always, be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

MC

ifx #11 stereo para EQ- band 1@+1 band #2 @0 band #3 @ +8 band 4 @ +6, wt/dry= wet
ifx # 004 st.multi compressor output gain +12 slope 18dboct, wet/dry=wet

I use it instead of taking the computer with me with omnisphere piano. hope you like it.

Wow, first of all thank you!

I recorded "Fireflies" with Ivory's German D grand run through Eastwast Spaces reverb with the LA Piano Hall TS FR 3.2s preset. So it's a pretty simple sound.

On my Kronos I have a similar patch which is basically the Berlin Una Corda patch with Reverb Smooth Hall in MFX2 @ 109 and from the Stereo Graphic 7EQ that's already in the chain I pulled 18.0k to -13.0. This is how it sounds straight out of the board: https://soundcloud.com/colasola/kronos- ... le/s-My7wp

What JoeyL wrote also seems like good advice, might even sound closer to "Fireflies" than what I posted!

JoeyL,

Thank you so much for giving such a detailed reply to my question.
It is VERY greatly appreciated.

Just have to say I had tried with almost all the Factory piano sounds within Kronos and the German D Dark Grand came out as my favourite and yes I had used various FX and reverbs, but they didn't sound like Tiko's piano.

Obviously,Tiko can play beautifully and produces some wonderful sounds and I had thought that just his personal style would help create that lovely haunting sound, of course coupled with a Kronos.

Later tonight I'll give it a go and will report back and no doubt I'll have a huge smile on my face when I do. :D

Once again, Thank You.

Kind regards,

Tiko,

To receive a reply from you is an honour indeed.

I've listened many many times to your compositions on Sound Cloud and have to say there are some purely epic sounds within.
Many are pure works of art.

I don't generally copy others' work, because I feel that would be an infringement of the talent from whoever created it, but I do love the piano's you have created and certain sounds strike me as exceptionally good.

Thank you for posting the link to your piano patch and for giving me the information as to how I could make that piano sound.

Again, it is Very greatly appreciated. :D

JoeyL and Tiko,

I've set up the Kronos with both of your settings and can honestly say I
like them both.

The German D Dark Grand now sounds 'richer', if that's the right word to describe it.

I've used the Berlin Una Corda to try to re-create Tiko's set-up and it too sounds great but It sounds different
from the recording that Tiko produced. I'll do some more tweaking!!
Tiko's piano to me sounds more resonant, or 'haunting', which I love.

Thanks again, I owe you guys!

Tiko,

Thank you so much for your kind offer of help.

I feel humbled after listening to such a great musician, as you definately are..

Don't be surprised when I send you a PM. :D

Once again, it proves just what a great forum this one is, with so many of you bending over backwards to help us lesser mortals out.

If I do manage to create any tweaks that I think are worthy, then I will certainly place the information here.

My sincere thanks to you all.

Kind regards,

MC
