Change style key signature

Post by Daniel_ARG »

Good evening all.

First of all, I want to apologize, 'cause I'm not sure if this question should be made here. I think I've seen a similar question some time ago, but now I cant' find it anywhere in the forum.

So, this is the deal. I'm trying to play a song, and I've found a beautiful style that is almost perfect for it. I say "almost", 'cause the song's time signature is 2/4, but this style is 4/4. I can still play the song, but not perfectly... the style doesn't fit exactly the song bars. [-X

Is there a "for dummies" method to change the time signature?

Thank you all of you for this great community.

Regards,

Daniel

you can't !
Meter (time signature) you can change only when the Style Element or Pad is empty, i.e. before you begin recording anything.
Is possible using Midi Editor like DAW, but also very tricky.
If you interesting I can give you few tips how approach this in DAW.

Thank you very much for your answer, Nemik.

FL Studio is very easy to work with, but has few disadvantages, like not saving midi with 0 version, not saving correctly markers (didn't check yet FL 12).
FL Studio demo version giving all option active except, you can't open project, but as a midi editor you don't need to save it as project, you using export/import tools.
Cubase is very powerful DAW, but very tricky for beginners.
Ableton Live is not recommended as midi editor, is best Audio Sequencing DAW, supporting midi, but has no option import song midi files at once.
ProTools is best to editing midi and audio, is a top shelf DAW for professionals, but is not cheap.
My suggestion is try on all demo versions, you find which one is best for you.
Use YouTube to find how do things, is all there.

As changing time signature is not easy, but I can help you with basic tips.
Just tell me on which DAW you like to do it.

Dear Nemik,

Thank you again your your so fast answer.

I have some of the demos you mention here, so I'll try them to see which is the easiest for me. I have too the lite version of Sonar, included in my A500 pro. I think trying it worths, I would save some money...

Not sure if I'll be able to accomplish the project, but al least I'll learn one or two things attempting it...

Best regards,

Or you can simply record whatever it is you want to record in the new time signature as a new Style, and then simply copy elements from that to another Style. Then, you'll have a Style with multiple Time Signatures. This is the fastest way for merging two styles.

If I wanted to change the time signature altogether, then I would definitely use a DAW
