Volca FM polyphony

Post by Artmuzz »

Is it possible to increase the polyphony of the Volca FM by connecting it to another Volca FM? I am thinking of buying another Volca FM so I can increase the polyphony from 3 note to 6 note. Please advise.

Hi,

No, unfortunately, that won't work. At least not in an easy and playable way.

Other option is using a sequencer: create 2 tracks, each having a separate MIDI channel and make sure each track has max 3 notes at once. Ok, this is a bit artificial and unpractical. It's also more applicable for a production environment.

Get a second hand real DX7 -> has 16 notes polyphony

Have fun.

Shame it won't work

Anyway I am a proud owner of a Yamaha DX7 and the fabulous Yamaha refaceDX.

Such a shame the Volca FM is only 3 note poly.

Thanks for the reply anyway.
