I take your point about the admin. The whole thing could have been shorter and more focused for sure.
So about duplicating loops and muting out parts. Yeah of course I know that you can duplicate scenes and just mute midi parts and I actually do this as a final process so that I have a complete song that I can upload to Ableton. But which MIDI tracks should I mute and when? What parameters should I tweak? How will I keep track of all the automation? Creating this consciously is a bit overwhelming for some people and they lose the flow they had when making a loop. This tutorial tries to address this.
I have played with some elektron gear in the past year and the whole live looping thing is partly what inspired me. When you jam/perform your little 4 bar loops it is amazing how much variety you can come up with. And often the whole thing flows together better than copy and pasting blocks around a screen. Check out project dataline's youtube videos or look at one of mine for some kind of proof:
