How to fix velocity

Post by dommel »

Hello folks. Just a quick question. Is there any way to fix velocity at the same level inside a track?. I know there is an option in track edit tab but i have not made it to work.

Hi Dommel,

I presume you mean that you want all the notes in a sequencer track to sound at exactly the same volume. If so, you need to go to the 'modify velocity' option in the track menu page and specify the same value for both the bottom and top velocity. You can always go back and repeat this step with a different value later on, if you decide you want it a bit louder or softer.

Best of luck!

Hi,

It should be fine - I hope so. The only alternative I can think of - apart from manually changing the velocity of each individual note :( - is to apply a strong compressor/limiter effect to the track in order to remove virtually all of the dynamics. But the 'modify velocity' page should do the trick easily enough.

Remember also that you can specify the parts of the track to which you want the restriction of the velocity to apply. It might work well to vary things at different points in the track.

Best of luck, anyway.

Pete.
