bench style stand opinion for 2 tier options

Post by songbird »

Hello All,
I am looking at getting a different 2 tier stand than the x style stand I have now.
how do the
(1)
On-Stage KS7150 - Platform-Style Keyboard Stand ($80, comparatively cheaper in price)
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... board.html

compare against
(2)
Gator Cases Frameworks Heavy Duty Keyboard Table ($100)
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... multi.html

and
(3)
Hammond 002-159-KS200 ($190)
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... stand.html
or

(4)
K&M 18950 Table-Style Keyboard Stand (Black)
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... Stand.html

is the stability of K&M 18850 spider comparable to the bench styles?
any of you use any of the above benches by any chance for a 2 tier stand option?
this is all for home studio by the way.
Asking in this forum because lot of you use multi tier setup.
thanks in advance...

I have the first stand and its just about ok as a single tier for home use. It is now in the loft.

You can't beat an x stand if you are on a budget. I have a two tier set up. I used a hack saw to reduce the foot print of the floor tubes and it's still reassuringly sturdy.

Budget is $100 - $300. But want reasonable stability for 2 tiers. so with your feedback I am rolling out the first option.
any opinion / experience with the others listed?

I'm using the K&R Spider for a Kronos 88 on the bottom, leaving the brackets for the second keyboard to hold a hat for the time being. It's heavy, but it seems very stable.

I've just taken a picture of the piano room now that there's an actual piano in there as well as the Kronos. This is what it looks like last night.

I've only used Z stands with second (and even triple) tier attachments. I plan on trying out a platform stand in 3 weeks from now with a 2nd tier. I think it will benefit my floor space since I need room for foot pedals.

Hey Songbird,

I use this one with extra arms for 2nd tier; use at home and gigging, very sturdy, with an option for mini boom stand for microphone

I have the fourth K&M) with a second tier addition, it's very stable (both tiers). Below a light 88 maste rkeyboard, on top the Kronos 61.

Thank you Fred. Do you have the silver one or the black colored stand? wondering how is the finish of the black and whether it will scratch easily.
or is silver better for scratch issues?

Thank you! I will pick either the 4th K&M or the spider. I am leaning more towards the one you have selected. Will see if I can find one in person.
