Havian 30 question..

There is no audio input on the Havian 30, but is the USB port fully class compliant and support both audio and midi over a USB from a PC?

This way you could use the Havian 30 with audio from ipad/iphone or even a PC...

Not supporting any audio input at all would be a killer for a 21st century instrument... If you buy this for your kids, they definately want to use it in combination with an ipad

If so, it definately explains why such a good instrument sells this bad, overhere in Holland streetprices recently dropped from €1500 to €1100 this could either mean the end of the Havian line, or korg could be making room for a more professional Havian 40 based on the new pa4x technollogy at around €2000 (pa4x with less controls/buttons/sliders, less sounds, no vh2)

But for now, the question, can i use the usb as an audio port from PC?

I don't have one but as a long time user of the pa series my educated guess is that the USB will support midi only (no audio). The midi out will connect to an iPad via Apples new USB 3 connector but then you would have to listen via headphones or a seperate powered speaker system. I don't see this as being so out of step considering the nature of the Havian.
The reality is that you can buy a decent midi keyboard for as little as $50.
I agree the setup would be a bit easier if the Havian had audio in.

I have a Pa3x plus a $50 keyboard. This works well for me.

Reuben, my investigations lead me to the same conclusion...

I think at the current price (€1100) thats acceptable(tough not smart) but at its orriginal price (€1700) there should have been a fullfledged pa600 inside including audio in and multipads...

For our needs, this makes the havian 30 unfit, as we want to use it to comtroll VST's and use the buildin pa300 speakers with that...

Having a €50 keyboard is not an option, my prime concern is a high quallity 88 keys keybed...

My other option is a pa600 with a Casio PX5s master keyboard under it... But that would be a total price of €1700... And that would be slightly above budget..

Just buy a small mixer as I did and you can use your Ipad with the Havian

Thats the point, that would render the havian 30 speakers totally useless...

Yet it is an option, routing sound to the laptops audio interface... And then only using your senheisers when playing...

I use most of the time my headphones not the speakers on the Havian so for me it is not a problem. Overall I am very happy with the Havian. The keys play very nice and are very silent. I have had the pa 600 but didn't like the keys and on the Havian there is not much I missed from the pa 600.

I'm in the same situation, I have the PA600 but I need a 88 keys keyboard with a good keybed, I have tested today the Havian and I really liked the action of the keys, the piano and in general I think I won't miss my PA600 with the Havian. I even tested the PX5S but to be honest, the action is nice but the mechanical noise the keys make is something of concern for me, I usually like to play in low volume and this mixed noise of the keys (the "thump" with the mechanical clicking) I think will be disturbing... compared to the Havian I liked the Havian more even it they feel a little heavier, for the other side I don't like the piano in PX5S, is synthetic to my ears... I'm trying to decide what to do because if I buy the Havian for sure I will sell my PA600...

Hi Bachus:

Considerer another option, i've applied to fully control PA600: Maudio Oxygen 88.- It's a very good controller, hammer action.- As it must be on any descent hammer action controller, it's heavy weight.-
A friend that don't like hammer action but needs a fully control, bought Nektar LX88, with synth action keys, and as there is no hammer action, it's light weight an finally easy portable.-
With any of these options you can control any action of your PA600.-
My suggestion: go and test both controllers
