Connecting Electribe 2 to volca keys - sync or midi?

Post by micionedellenevi »

Mine might be a seriously noobish question but basically I have an electribe 2 which I want to connect to a volca keys. I have two sync cable jacks to connect but I'm not completely sure how should I sync it, because in a forum I read the answers were quite confusing.

Should I put just one sync cable that connects the "sync out" of the electribe to the "sync in" hole of the volca keys or viceversa? What should I set in the global parameter in order to hear both? I don't have a monitor speaker at the moment, so if I play with just headphones where should I plug them, in the volca or the electribe?

I looked on the electribe instruction and it shows two cable coming out from the sync in and out and going to the sync in and out of the volca. So I really don't get what should I do.

I'm fairly new in the world of synths, so most of the things quite don't make sense to me, thanks for help and understanding!

You wont be able to hear both units unless you have a mixer so your phones can pickup both. If you're trying to slave the Volca tempo to the Electribe you need to go sync out (E2) to sync in (volca)

Hope this helps. If you have anymore electribe questions shoot them my way, I don't use the Volca line but I'm sure plenty of people here do.

Oh I just thought of something else. If you only have headphones and no mixer or monitors, run your volca audio out back into the electribe audio in and you'll be able to hear both with your phones plugged into the tribe. Make sure audio in thru on Electribe is enabled and your audio in volume is up.

Hey, I tried to do as you suggested but I couldn't hear anything. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.

In order to play volca and electribe together what entry level mixer do you suggest, with the idea to eventualy connect it to other synth or machines in the future???

When you want to hear something connected to the audio in input, you have to select a pad and chose the last osc for this pad, it's the 409 one. Tip : the Input Level knob changes the volume, but the edit knob will boost the volume too, which is pretty cool !
