Midi File Import Silences Audio Track

Post by ParsonPage »

My song includes both midi tracks and audio tracks.

For more detailed editing, I am creating a standard midi file on the Kronos and importing it into my DAW.

Then I create/export a new midi file on the DAW and import it back into the KRONOS. I import it INTO THE SAME SONG/same place it came from.

Now, the audio tracks are still there and in tack, and I can see them in Disk Mode. But when I am in sequencer mode the audio tracks are SILENT. Nothing. The song/midi channels play, but the audio tracks do not.

It is as though something about importing the midi file "silences" the audio tracks. Anyone have any ideas on why the audio tracks are silent?

Thanks to all.

Thats normal if you can see your audio files in disk mode ,and you should be able to play them in disk mode to hear that they are intact.
So you import from DAW to disk mode of Kronos as "song files" and they are there in Kronos, then when you load the song from disk mode to your selected song slot, it should show up.
And its ok if you do not hear the audio, wave file or samples. The track names and midi values will all be there when the song is loaded but the actual Wave-files/Samples will have to be loaded in. Sometimes Kronos can only load so much in one load command. Even Some EXs like with CX3 engine, has a warning about limits to how many it can load at one time.
Look for "Load Required Samples" maybe in the drop down menu at the top right of screen, try that. If it doesn't work then load them one by one. It depends on what changes you made for it to recognize the audio data/samples as required samples for the song. I think if the name and file stays the same then no problems.

If the audio track wave files will need to be loaded from disk mode to the song one by one and you get it all right where you want it, you can save the song again to disk as a new song file or overwrite the old one just to capture your changes or edits.
I am not sure but i think when you resave it after getting the audio tracks back in place, you should be able to have an easier time loading the song next time, and easier using load required samples as well.
Even the factory demo songs save the audio tracks as separate files that load separately from Midi. The audio track names and settings all show up with the midi but then the audio data has to be loaded after.

Here is a youtube video showing how to manually load wavefiles/samples from disk mode to Song

Hope you get it sorted out and learn more about how Kronos works.

One thing that comes up with using external drive in disk mode is that Audio tracks will not load from disk mode unless it comes directly from the internal HDD.
Be sure all your song files are on the internal HD and then load from there.
If you load via the 2 usb ports from external storage or device, your audio tracks will not load to sequencer.
I got all midi and audio files to load all together from internal HD and also spotted in the Parameter Guide where it says audio tracks will only load from internal HD.
But also, if you had tried to load audio to sequencer from external RDD, you would have been given a pop up box on screen explaining to load from internal HD.
So i am still not sure if my comments apply to what you have going on.

Thanks to both of you for your responses. I appreciate your effort to do so.
Loading my audio files manually (as shown in the video which was linked) worked.

Be sure to save Songs in their full parts of midi and audio to the internal HD.
The Audio tracks will not load with the song from the external USB storage.
You can save them where ever you want, but to load the songs in complete form with audio and midi tracks, they have to be loaded from the internal SSD.
Thats just the way the system is set up for audio to sequencer tracks. Midi tracks are more flexible for loading options.
