Slowly but surely I feel like I'm figuring out the Kross editor and getting more and more out of this thing. I created a few splits for some of the songs my band does and everything worked very well at our last gig. Now we want to add a sequenced drum track to a song and I said "sure, no problem"
So, how to do that...
What I've done so far is:
1. Created a new combi program for this song
2. Found the drum sounds (kit and specific samples I want to use)
3. Edited the combi program via the Kross editor and assigned that kit and those samples to the appropriate elements (kick, snare, hi hat, etc) under the "step seq" tab
4. ????
When I press the "drum trk" button (or whatever it's labeled) either on the keyboard or in the Kross editor nothing happens, and if I click on "play" from within the STEP SEQ tab nothing happens.
I *know* I'm missing something basic. Thoughts?
Thanks!

Hi,
Is the step seq button lit?
If yes, press the setup button, next to the step seq button. You should see there the different elements and a dot for each tick where an element should sound. You can enable/disable them using teh 16 buttons. Use up/down to select a row.
Now, if you press run you should see a vertical line moving on the screen indicating the current tick it is playing. Is that the case?
You may check also the volume for the step seq on the mixer page. The step sequencer is the 16th timbre.
Good luck.

Got it working, thanks! Here's what I did, best as I can remember:
-the STEP SEQ button was lit
- under setup the pattern I had plugged in via the Kross Editor was there
- pressing run caused everything to appear to work properly, but no sound
- volumes were up for all channels
Then I remembered when creating my first COMBI program that I had to set each timbre's MIDI channel to 'global' in order to get any sound out of it - I did that and then I heard the drum pattern playing but with a piano patch. I changed "something" (can't remember what) and got the drum patches I had selected to double the piano sound, so then I figured another timbre was playing along. I started turning volumes down on everything, and went about programming the rest of the patches I wanted (a 5-way keyboard split), and now when I press 'RUN' everything works as desired.
Thanks a ton for the help, that got me going in the right direction!
