How to use Kross and Cubase as midi-input and output, or...

Post by Ed Zeppelin »

...I'm going slightly mad!

Hi, all!

I'm trying to record midi from the Kross into Cubase Elements 8 and I would also like Cubase to play it back on my Kross (this is the setup, a hardwaresynth with a computer and Cubase - nothing else). It feels like this should be a simple task which makes me feel even more stupid when I can't get it to work.

What I think I want to do is to record one or several midi-tracks with different patches and then for Cubase to play them back, but I can't get this to work. I've tried using the vst-plugin - no luck/no kowledge on how to use it. I've tried to create miditracks but it seems that only channel 1 will get the sound back to the Kross and I don't seem to be able to figure out where I'm going wrong with anything. I've tried to read the manuals but I seem to lack every little peace of knowledge that is needed to figure out how I should set things up. Can this be done? Can I use the vst-plugin or is it the wrong approach? Do I need to enable/disable something?

Any pointers at all in a direction that will get me closer to what I want to do will be much, much appreciated.

Thanks in advance and cheers!

Not sure that I understand completely your setup, especially Cubase.
You should record several miditracks and assign each track to a MIDI channel.
On the Kross you'll need to setup a combination with all your patches that you want to use and assign each of them to the correct MIDI channel. That should be a starting point.

Good luck
