Your 4x if bought new will be under warranty so dont just put up with a badly manufactured component get it sorted by informing the dealer you have a problem that is becoming Korgs worst nightmare and you need it sorted. This is a big problem for korg and it will get bigger so tell your dealer to get it sorted or give you your money back

I have notified the dealer. He wasn't much help. I have to call a repair shop. I normally repair keyboards myself since I'm an engineer. I know that it is probably a bad solder joint. And I don't know if anybody is really up to speed on this new keyboard. I have not been real happy with repair work from others in the past. Sweetwater is good, but they are too far away. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do. I'm not in a big hurry since I have the hard drive and big thumb drive. It's just the point; such an expensive machine and it's broken already with the likelihood that other important things like the screen will go bad if I start using it in the up position.

You paid a lot of money for a 4X so realistically you want one that is good and free from defect.

Unless they want to charge you an arm and a leg because warranty does not apply (at there discretion of course).

Hi. Just adding to this discussion. I just bought a demo model Pa4x from Sweetwater and opened it to find that the screen doesn't lock down. At first I thought it was supposed to be that way. Now I'm not sure if it's worth trying to fix if it may just keep happening. Has there been any progress on this issue?

I haven't gotten mine fixed yet because I didn't want to take the time. However, Sweetwater will make your's right. They will either exchange, repair or refund. You should do that for sure.

Contacted Sweetwater & they very quickly arranged for me to exchange the PA4x with a new unit. They're the best!

I finally got around to taking my 4X in to the repair center in Dallas, Audio Electronics. Had to do it before the warranty expired in December.
I paid a rush fee of $50. so that they would diagnose and/or repair it the same day. They opened the case and were able to see that the tilt mechanism had somehow slipped and a cog was out of it's socket. I know that isn't a technical explanation, but the technician was able to realign it and now it works like new.
Warranty covered everything except the rush fee. It would have been a two-week wait without it. I drove 160 miles to get there, had lunch with an old friend while they repaired it, and drove back in a pretty violent thunderstorm, so it was a long day, but a very satisfying one!
The technician told me it was an easy fix, so if it happens again, after the warranty is expired, I'll open the case and try to do it myself. I don't expect it to happen again though.
Warning, if you open the case yourself and leave ANY evidence of doing so, the warranty will be violated!

Oh!! That's good news Don - thanks for the feedback

I have left mine locked down most of the time now but am feeling a little more confident about fixing it if I end up with the same problem at a later date.

It's a shame we didn't get any feedback form Korg about this - I think they said they were looking into it but I didn't catch any feedback (maybe I missed it)

Cheers

...just chatting to a new local PA4X owner about the screen problems.

Might seem a silly question but was the problem purely on the PA4X-61 or PA4X-76 or both?

Cheers
