Can I bpm midi sync the KP2 with multiple hardware

Post by Rowley Birkin »

I'M using 2 elecribes and 2 kaoss pads and a xoxbox, my ESX is the clock running into my EMX, and my EMX running into the xoxbox which runs into my KP3, I have everything midi synced in all the appropriate midi channels with the exception of the KP2, I bought it 2nd hand and it works perfectly but i got no manual with the box, it would be a great help if it was all in sync as i have to keep manually changing the tempo of the KP2, cheers

ESX -> EMX -THRU-> xoxbox... and then? does the xoxbox have a THRU midi or just an out?

also: what happens when you set the MIDI clock on the KP to external? does it just get nothing at all?

I've noticed with with my EMX's that if for instance I have:
EMX-> EMX- (OUT)-> microkorg the microkorg doesnt get any MIDI clock from the EMX's MIDI OUT.. but it does get clock from the MIDI THRU... so I'm assuming that the MIDI OUT doesn't pass the MIDI clock data on to the next item in the chain... only the MIDI THRU does.

You might be experiencing the same stumbling block.
See if you can find an inexpensive MIDI splitter to run multiple items from one MIDI clock source.

EDIT: Just realised you're running from the KP3 MIDI out to the KP2. If you put one of the Kaoss Pad's as the master clock in the chain you will probably sort the problem out... but then you'll have to manually change the BPM on that KP and wont be able to rely on the BPM set by your patterns on the (previously) master Electribe.

Kp2 & Electribe SmkII

Post by Simeone »

Hello Guys,

I'm really new into midi world, I'd like to have some help.
I'm using my KP2 and the Electribe SmkII in this way:
Electribe audio and midi out --> Kp2 Audio and midi in.
With this configuration, what can I make both do?
I understod I can sync the bpm but there is something else I can do it?
without change midi channels?

Many thanks
