Kronos OS update in the wings!
It's coming! don't worry!carmol wrote:can somebody confirm that new o.s. 3.1 will be
available also to other kronos models ?
I know this because I was told by the Korg techy I've been dealing with that some anomalies I had pointed out to him earlier in the year are amongst other things that have been corrected with the as yet unreleased OS update. OS3.1 in this new version of the K board must be that OS update… I'm sure it's just a matter of days before they release the OS separately for everyone to upload.
What exactly is being updated here?
What's actually being improved?

Height, width and depth are slightly smaller.

kbrkr, download KRS-79 KApro “EXi Atmospheres"...pick-up the first sound...play it 20 seconds, and you will understand how powerful is the aftertouch ... : )kbrkr wrote:Can you please explain how you use Aftertouch now?jimknopf wrote:No aftertouch on such a powerful synth will be an immediate and absolute NO GO for many keyboarders.
This will heavily narrow down the number of possible buyers, and from my view is a ridiculously amateurish management decision.
Re: What exactly is being updated here?
I have informed Korg over a number of issues this year. The one anomaly they have definitely addressed was an issue with assigning externally entering sounds to the MFX1 and 2 where the global setting of this would not remain in place between patches set up identically. Not a terribly interesting one I know but he did tell me that there have been a number of other improvements and bug fixes in this imminent OS update. This was back in early october and so it does make sense that it's release has in fact been delayed to coincide with the launch of this new K board.lcceo22 wrote:What's actually being improved?
I have banged on at Korg for a long time about the "light digital popping sounds" through the digital input/output regardless of wether the K is clocked internally or externally. The analog inputs also seem to suffer at times regardless of how low the input sensitivity is. There are a fair few other little gremlins along with my own quota of suggested improvements: however the techy did not have any detailed info on the actual improvements Korg have addressed… We'll just have to wait 'till its out!

Maybe they couldn't get this action to feel right with aftertouch, or there's some technical reason AT doesn't work with this action. I hope it wasn't merely a matter of cost reduction or to further differentiate it from the other models. AT is very useful, and to me, more so on the non-hammer actions. I don't much care about it on my "piano" board, I use it on my "synth" board. So yeah, with this attempting to be more of an "all in one" rather than piano-specific action, it's a shame if AT is absent.
I agree... My perfect version would be a 73 LS with the bender stuff moved up to the main panel for reduced total width/weight, and yeah, aftertouch. If they could get that down to say, about 33 lbs and $3k, I'm there...drama1 wrote: It's still 40 lbs, 65lbs with a case. if korg had put the ribbon/buttons/bender above the keys I think it would be a much more manageable schlep for the weekend warrior. If korg releases a 73/76 LS version (which I doubt) I'd order that right now.
There are a lot of us that are desperate for the piano roll. I'm convinced that Korg doesn't look at this forum much at all.Artmuzz wrote:A bit disappointed with the details of the new 3.1 update on the Kronos. I was hoping that piano roll function on the sequencer would of made it into the 3.1 update. Oh well.
