Quick Tutorial video: Korg Quick Split/Layer (with a bug!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XObPv_hHzWU
It's just a quick video I've recorded to explain the quick split/quick layer feature of the new 3.1.0 OS, but I also managed to find a bug that the Korg Devs might be interested in.
In the video around 8:20 or so, I was able to get the Kronos to lock up and I caught it all on video. I've spent some time trying to reproduce the error, and my best guess is it has something to do with the touchscreen itself. It seems like it's not refreshing, but more than that whatever scanner or monitoring software that controls the general user interface crashed.
I really wish I could access logs on this dang thing, so I could give a more detailed answer as to what happened. Maybe there's a developer mode? *shrugs*
At any rate, hopefully some of you find this useful. It's really a simple feature, and it's well laid out but I'm hoping:
1.) People who aren't sure about 3.1.0 get to see how this works clearly
2.) People who have moved to 3.1.0 but haven't played with the split/layer modes yet but want to learn
3.) Someone at Korg who works with devs can check out what I've done and attempt to reproduce the error
4.)?
Anyway, let me know if you have any questions - I'll help if I can!

good video, Dave. Interesting about the freeze up. My Kronos might freeze once or twice per yr.enigmahack wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XObPv_hHzWU

You did not mention if you used a UPS. Flaky power could be a cause. Placing
a camera near the Kronos might create some RF.
And its cold in Canada. 34 degrees with wind chill. BBrrrrrrr.

Heh, I ALWAYS run my Kronos from a line conditioner and UPS. None of that walmart UPS garbage either, it's a nice APC one.GregC wrote:good video, Dave. Interesting about the freeze up. My Kronos might freeze once or twice per yr.enigmahack wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XObPv_hHzWU

The camera was a webcam, powered from USB on a PC running from a different power line entirely (not sharing the same UPS)
I use my Kronos every day for hours a day in this setup and this is the first time I've had it freeze, but second day in with the new OS. *shrugs*
I imagine it's just chilly here in my Igloo

Lockup with 3.0.1
I have locked up my Kronos the exact same way while playing with the split feature in Combi mode. This has happened more than one since I installed the latest 3.1.0 update. I'm only speculating here, but it seems to lock up when I start changing sounds and turning Karma on/off on different parts. Maybe it's a memory glitch that taxing the system...I don't know. The only remedy I see right now is to restart the Kronos. I like ,everyone else, have not had a lockup until this latest update. On a good note though this split and layer feature is awesome. I just hope that this problem can be remedied quickly!
