The Kronos offers "Smooth Sound Transitions", and is the only keyboard I'm aware of that does this. Basically, the sound of a Program or Combi doesn't cut off when the Prog or Combi is changed, although Karma and drum track activity do stop. The Kronos patch changes are pretty fast.

One way of stopping the sound from cutting out on the Krome would be to create a Combi containing all the Programs needed for a performance, and then using mute and unmute (in the order: unmute then mute), or using different MIDI channels for each Program in the Combi, and changing the MIDI channel coming from the Keyboard. A trawl through the Parameter Guide should give some idea if this is possible using a footswitch. The MIDI channel change method would allow notes to decay naturally, whilst the unmute/mute method produces an abrupt cut in sound when mute is enabled.

Since it is the time for visiting friends and family, many forum members will have been off for a while.

OK, method 1:

Once all the Programs for a performace have been put into a Combi, playing them can be controlled from the Combi "Play" screen, which has buttons marked "Play". The buttons for all but the first Program need to be set to "Mute" by tapping each of the "Play" buttons. As the performance progresses, change to the next Program in the Combi by tapping the "Mute" button for Program 2 and tapping the "Play" button for Program 1, and so on. Using this method, muting and unmuting creates sudden volume changes, and all of the Programs in the Combi will be playing all the time so could use up quite a bit of the available polyphony.

Method 2:

Set different MIDI channels for each Program in the Combi, e.g. MIDI channel 1 for the first Program, 2 for the second and so on. In Global settings, set the Foot Switch assignment to "inc". This will increment the value of any highlighted data entry boxes. Go to the Global P1 MIDI page, and observe if the MIDI channel can be incremented by 1 when the foot switch is pressed. The Program being played in the Combi should now change each time the foot switch is pressed, but only whilst the Global P1 MIDI screen is being displayed. Any notes held from the previous Program will stop sounding, but any reverb sounds from those notes should still continue to be audible as the reverb decays.

Neither method is perfect, and the first method cannot be performed using the footswitch, but at least there isn't a complete sound cutoff. The alternative is to get a second keyboard.

Is this needed for playing medleys?
