The Japanese Yamaha site is advertising a version 1.5 update for the Montage. It mentions a new rotary speaker effect and organ voices! I’m sure the English language announcement will show up as soon as the NAMM embargo expires. Stay tuned.

Roland did three synth engines with the FA workstations a few years ago, PCM (XV5080) and S-Natural Synth and Super Natural Accoustic, a few years back so you could say they've already done it. The V-Synth XT had the V-Synth, D50 and Vocal Processing synth engines (and this was even before Korg).

This appears to be at variance with other statements by Roland about this keyboard. Specifically this:

This makes it sound like it has BOTH V-piano and Supernatural acoustic pianos in it. But on their website, it says the second engine is for Supernatural electric pianos, under Standard Features:

"Second SuperNATURAL-based sound engine with 128-voice polyphony for electric pianos and additional sounds (compatible with RD-800 Live Sets)."

This is important. I would like to have an instrument with both. Roland needs to clear this up.

Gezzzzzzz, what the heck, i would have expected at least an ARP engine as part of the seven, can it load samples or what you see if what you get? On a up beat note, it looks like it has full size keys ... . All the other manufactures also look and sound like ground hog day. If this is it, then i see DM12 as synth of the year, but maybe i'm getting ahead of myself in day 1, ... I HOPE!!!

I kind of agree DM12 possibly Rev2, still would rather have the OB6, I do want a Roli lightpad block now that the dashboard is on the way. I know many thin of it as a toy and thats ok with me as long as I can have some fun with it. I don't really see anything earth shattering. I think we were all spoiled with the year Kronos was released, now that was exciting and will be a tuff act to follow!

As far as multi-faceted stage pianos goes I absolutely love the new Roland RD-2000, an excellent achievement of the Roland team.
It also is a great masterkeyboard for both studio and live set-ups.

Shame it wasn't a new workstation in the end. Happy to see a new Piano, but would have assumed greatly that the KRONOS is due a successor at this stage.

I think they were more inspired by the Nimitz. I can't understand why Roland add all that extra length for a joystick on what is mainly a stage piano.
