Yes accordions, we play a lot of texmex and latin inspired music... in which accordeons really shine...dfahrner wrote:As I said in a previous post, it always seems to come back to pianos, organs, and a few classic synths (OK, Bachus, DPs and strings/pads too, but accordions?)...I don't think it's just nostalgia: these instruments, and their usage in modern western music, have been developed over many (even hundreds) of years, and they work well with the familiar, standard keyboard as the main controller...that's why musicians want instruments that sound and play like pianos, organs, etc., and why companies continue to spend resources on producing them....

My feelings toward this Grand Stage will depend mostly on price. I don't exactly consider it a replacement for the SV-1, due to its acoustic piano emphasis and style. If they price it similarly though at maybe $2200, it will be a good value.
The concave surface behind the keys and raised control panel makes sense, as SV-1 Favorite buttons were at key level and were being triggered accidentally during play, until they updated the software to change the button response.
I can forgive the lack of control surfaces, if they price it well enough below the RD-2000, which has the full Montage/OASYS array of controls. Nord Pianos don't need no stinking control surfaces either, and no one complains.
The gray panel looks like a good place for a sound bar, music stand, or add-on control boxes. Much more useful than the obloid body of my old SV-1.
I want to know:
What is nature of the 64Gb internal memory?
Is it flash ROM/RAM?
Is it all or partially writable?
Is there going to be a full editor?
Does the USB convey audio?
Does this have "run a load of dishes" startup time?
Polyphony per engine?
Effects structure & limits?

It´s basically a Kronos specialized for the use as a stagepiano. For me it´s perfect, because I use my Kronos only like this. So I hope for less weight (under 16kg). It looks like we will have 4 insert fx, that we hopefully can select from an editor. The main fx are probably the ones on the interface (reverb and delay). Would be nice to be able to interact with the insert fx also while playing (especially drive and rotary), but I don´t see the control knobs for that purpose.
In terms of design I would prefer the look of an old wurlitzer or rhodes. More like the SV-1. That would be really sexy. But the flat top gives one the DIY opportunity to prolongue it a little bit. So some toys or a second Keyboard will find a place - like in the old days.
I´m looking forward to it.

Tahts how i use the Kronos to ( and a lot of karma). But to be usefull... they should add 4 encoders, some programmable buttons... and for the organs some drawbars...pink elefant wrote:It´s basically a Kronos specialized for the use as a stagepiano. But 64GB of sample ram is huge... only Kronos technollogy can do that..

Thats true, but you can also view the video for informative vallue.. it still gives a very good idea, what this instrument isnall about... and to be honest, the sound quallity should be kronos quallity...SanderXpander wrote:To me that mostly proves that anything will sound like crap through a mobile phone recording. No disrespect to PianoManChuck who always does his best to deliver top notch videos.
The little tube from the SV1 has been cut, so this might mean ep's are more like kronos them like the brilliant ones on the SV1.... which was mostly due to the little tube...
Now i am hoping they will crossbreed this instrument with the pa4x... all they need to do is add the sound engine, and 4 assignable endless encoders and 4 or 8 programmable pads, and maybe add the krome arpegiators...i think that would suit every one man band with piano background just perfect.. a single 88 key instead of lugging an 88 with a 76 key arranger on top..
