Combi problem: disappearing sounds
Having a very strange problem with some combi patches:
I've created combis for a live show using sounds split across the Kronos and also some sounds played from a second keyboard over midi channel 2.
Have some that I've already been using like this on gigs; then I've gone to edit the combi and move one of the sounds from channel 1 to 2 so moving it to the top keyboard. It plays fine in combi mode, then when I switch to setlist that particular sound within the combi just stops working; even when I then flick back to combi mode. Have then repeated the process using the same sound on a different strip within the combi and the same thing happened: anyone else experienced this?!

After further testing; if I leave the polysix patch played on channel 1 played from the Kronos own keyboard & send a Rhodes to channel 2 played from the other midi keyboard; all then seems to stay fine. If I then just switch the midi channels of those sounds around & go to setlist mode that then kills the polysix sound in that combi dead

FIXED!
Found out what was causing it; just in case anyone else runs into a similar issue:
In the polysix program I'd set the volume to 0 and assigned the volume AMS to foot pedal giving volume control from the pedal. However once it was set to channel 2 in a combi and therefore detached from the foot pedal operating on channel 1 it was then just going silent!

Just so you are not speaking just to yourself.....
Thanks for sharing. It's always good to read about these sorts of problems and fixes, to keep in mind when similar problems strike.

In the end I got around it by using Karma to send the foot pedal to channel 2.
The odd thing is how that foot pedal assignment works; you can't seem to set the initial patch volume to full then give the foot pedal a negative value (it makes the pedal work the wrong way around), so having set the patch to 0 and the pedal with a positive value; that's why when the pedal was taken away the patch went silent.

If you set the pedal to expression cc11 you can set individual volumes any where and the expression will begin affecting the sounds as soon as you move the pedal. This may work better for you.

If you only wanted to use it for volume...geoelectro wrote:If you set the pedal to expression cc11 you can set individual volumes any where and the expression will begin affecting the sounds as soon as you move the pedal. This may work better for you.

I assign the foot pedal to do different things on different sounds, so sometimes might use it for a wah effect on a Rhodes for instance. Or often I'll use it to control volume on one sound in a combi, but leaving other sounds at a fixed volume. So foot volume gives me more flexibility
