This is phenomenal, thank you very much!
I was a guitar player until I got a Monotron...

I think this is the order, Korg Monotron, Monotribe, MicroSampler, MicroKorg XL+, MS20 Mini, SQ1, Kronos 2 61...

Truly amazing work!!

A newby question here. When I want to download these PCG and sample files. How can I prevent erasing/over writing my current programs, combi's and global settings???

That's exactly right. The samples have an 'original' key that they're assigned to when they're built. The "original mapping" is showing what key you'd press in the program to trigger the sample in it's 'home' key so to speak.

It's all in the manual, but the long and short of the story is that you can selectively load sounds. If you open the PCG and load the programs and Combi into the next free available slot instead of loading a whole bank at a time, you get better control of where things get loaded.

Don't just load all, but selectively load programs and combi into whatever banks you want, just be aware you might need to update the combi to point at the appropriate programs, and then the same thing for the samples as well.

I should read the manual first. Sorry.

Triggering Chords into a single keybed from kronos

Post by siwaj11 »

Hi, everyone! 1st of all I would like to thank enigmahack for sharing the patch that he made. it is very useful and inspiring.Smile

I have a question, In your "Up Town Funk" patch, How did you trigger the chords into a single key bed? I'm referring to the chorus part of the song "Up Town Funk" synth Brass CC013 and CC014 ( Dm7 and Dm6 )

If you could share us the trick how to do it that would be awesome.

I sent you a PM but long and short is simply chord triggering.

Step 1 - Assign a chord to a pad controller. (One of the performance pads, you don't need a NanoPad to do this, it's assigned via the touch-screen)
Step 2 - Enable chord-play on the basic page I think it is. I'm going from memory here.
Step 3 - Choose which pad you want the 'source' chord to come from
Step 4 - Save your program

Reference to it here: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=69719

Manual, page 34/35: http://i.korg.com/uploads/support/usa_k ... ide_e5.pdf

There's more to it but this should get you started.

Thanks for this! Still a bit new to the sampling side of the Kronos.

I'm getting an error message when I try to load the samples: 'KSC is incomplete due to uninstalled EXs: EXs 109? Can anyone explain why?

I am also struggling with this. I unzipped the file on my computer and then loaded the unzipped files to my memory stick. The Kronos didn't see these files when I looked at my flashdrive. So then I copied all off the unzipped files to the flash drive. I can see all of the files now but don't know if I am supposed to use Multiple select for all and then hit load. Anyone help with this?
Thanks

Load the samples by loading the .KSC file. (Not the _userbank.ksc since the latter gets pulled in by the main .KSC)

Then you need to load the PCG. The problem is making sure things don't overwrite other things. You may need to load an entire bank at a time, so you'll want to load each one individually. Just make a backup first of your current everything just in case you load sounds over sounds you already use.

Thanks so much for your reply and incredible amount of work that you've done on this song. I think I understand now: I only need the KSC file and PCG file on my flash drive. Load the KSC first and then the PCG second. Your excellent map will help me by first checking to see what I have programmed in those locations. If I have something there, then without using PCG Tools, I need to move the locations of the programs copied from you to unused areas, change the combi to the corrected locations and then reload my original banks back in. Does that about sum it up?
Thanks,

I'm getting the same error. + uninstalled EX19 I assume it relies on samples I don't have but don't know what to do about it. I have a Kronos 2-88 about one year old.
Any advice?

Okay - I made this back in the day when I didn't know which option to select and such. The samples themselves are stored in the userbank - you can completely disregard this error.

When I saved the samples, I saved the user samples AND every option I had installed (just the references) which was admittedly sloppy and I apologize for that one. I'll get around to fixing it and making it a tighter install but for now you can disregard. There's no actual dependency except on the horns in EXs19 and the user-created samples. [/list]
