Kronos programs/combis usefull with Kronos 2?

Post by Acousticflavour »

Is it possible to use my own Kronos 88 combis with the new Kronos 2? Does it work if I move them form the first kronos to the new one?

They are hit and miss. The K2 has changed the program mapping of many sounds and the combis which rely on those sounds have been updated with new bank locations. In many instances the sounds/programs themselves have been changed or renamed.

If I were you, I would identify the combi's you use by writing or taking a picture of each combi and the sound name they use, then moving them to the K2 and doing a SEARCH for the name of the program for each timbre of the combi.

A program like PCG tools will help you dump the contents of your existing combi's and then you can use the tool to help with the remapping. This is how I did it; very tedious and manual process. Perhaps some others may have a better method.

with pcg tools its very easy...
But I would prefere to make a new program bank ( or better two) and put in there the sounds you made with Kronos first generation... Than load the new bank in Kronos 2.
After this saving with Kronos 2 load in pcg tools, than copy the old combis in the new file...(Pcg tools look for the programs and direct them)
After this it have to work perfect...
Love and peace to everyone :-)
