IF A PERSON BUYS A PA4X

Post by RC »

If a person were to buy a 4x, would all of the songs created on the 3x be compatible with the 4? Midi, style, and songbook as well as the sts sounds.

Midi files and styles will work fine.
Songbook will often point to the wrong styles. It will work but have many errors because the style locations have changed.
I found it easier to start over with Songbook. Anyway, if I wanted it to be exactly like the 3X, I wouldn't have changed. :)
All the great improvements make it well worth spending a little time on the Songbook!

Don't underestimate this.
When I switched from PA800 to PA3X, it took me months (not full time) to get things right.
Going from PA3X to PA4X, it's the same process.
In fact, it's one of the main reasons that keeps me from switching to PA4X, I don't want to do that process all over again.

pa4

I've learned from the past upgrading is always difficult but my pa800 to the PA3x was painless and easy and now the pa4x . All the styles that I use are in my favorite spots, if I use factory style 1A I then copy it to favorite or anywhere in this my favorites so my songbook points to my favorites now when I upgrade from keyboard to keyboard I just save my favorites and load them in to the new keyboards favorites now the songbook still points to the same style with few exceptions it works perfect all of my many songs all of my MP3s are in one folder on the USB memory so again if I load my songbook in anybody's pa3 or pa4 or pa800 my songbook points to the USB memory no error, now with the new keyboard PA 4 the favorites hold more styles so after I transferred all my old favorite styles I had empty spots which I now use

That would work great, except some of the styles in the 4x, even though they have the same names as in 3x, are improved and may have updated voices. I would double check to see if you are missing out on some improvements!
I wish I had thought of that though, because there were a few styles on the 3x that I used, that weren't on the 4x. I had to find them and load them into the new kb.

it did not take long to do what you said , i did check out the new pa4x styles like ( fox 1 on the pa3x and then fox 1 one on the pa4x ) and some sound the same ,but i keep the new one,,I use not more then 50 styles ,all the rest is midi and mp3, so it that all you use take some time and you will be done forever ,

Hi Fransman,

I expect the Remap feature, introduced with SongBook Editor v2.0, would make the transition much faster. You can prepare a map of your Styles, and remap everything with a single command.

That's a great feature! I will have to check out SongBook Editor.
Thanks Paolo!

Hi Paolo,
Any chance to release one day a Mac OS X version for SongBook Editor?

Thanks Paolo for your help, really appreciate it. Just some more questions/remarks: How can I make a 'map' of all of my styles (in fact: what is it)? In my songbook there are hundreds of songs. Impossible to remember which styles I use for which songs. Luckily I've noted them with my sheet music. So I needed to do it manually one by one. Another thing : Some styles were given other names in PA3X, not too helpful either. Compatibility should be waaaay better imo. This is my main complaint, PA3X still rocks! (Very, very happy about it!)

songbook

Post by duby2 »

The new songbook works well I use it and it's easy but when it came to remapping. That's a different story after trying it many times I would need a korg technician to help me through it, but it does work but if you don't do it every day it's another story the way that I do my files as I stated before I don't need to remap just a few clicks in the songbook and I'm done. Here's a great video of Steve doing it this might help you some and it's always great to hear from Paolo , and I hope he's doing well, I think the video is missing a few steps when it comes to remapping again that's my own opinion.
